has anyone lowered the engine cradle to clear a blower lid from hitting the hood when port plates are installed? if you have what were the bolt sizes grade and length? trying to get all the parts needed before I yank the engine for a port install and cam swap
I'm not sure you're going to be able to lower the engine a meaningful amount, and it certainly won't be as simple as slapping longer bolts in there.
Two main things come to mind. The spring, which can be worked around by significantly adjusting the lowering bolts (probably to the poitn of getting aftermarket ones) or just going with a coil spring swap... and the fact that the cradle is already one of the lowest static pieces of the car, so you're not doing yourself any favours with regards to ground clearance.
Honestly, it sounds like you're attacking the issue from the wrong side. What have other people done to resolve hood clearances in your application?

when it comes to hood clearance we are talking 3/4" is what's needed to clear. so ground clearance wont be an issue and its not really just slapping new bolts in. its making spacers then using proper grade bolts the spacer difference in length so the same torque can be applied to the threads. not going coil overs lol nor am I spending 3k on a bigger hood. this has been done for decades on a variety of cars. I simply don't want the mpi lid hitting the hood as the car is raced damaging the hood
well the ligenfelter kit wont be enough. got the port plates today and ill need 3/4" instead of 1/4" clearance. not a big deal guess ill be cutting some aluminum spacers
If you lower the engine 3/4" how will the exhaust and a bunch of other parts fit. What will this do to the torques and diff alignment?
legit question. exhaust will be no issue it has plenty of places to flex if needed. torque tube will definitely be a question. angle gauge should tell me if its to extreme or not. theres a decent gap between the hood and lid as it sits now so I may not need a full 3/4" hoping I can get away with less than 1/2 " max. need to putty the hood to lid soon and see just how much I have to play with. if I can get away with a 1/4" spacer there wont be any issues.
