OK this is the Vin 1G1YB2D70K5111307 It is a 2019 LT1 Stingray. The Chevy parts guy told me that it had a PDR camera, but the display says that a card is not inserted. I am asking if it does indeed have a PDR and all it needs is a card, and if so what kind of card do I need to put in the slot that is in the glove box? I bought the car used last august so it was just a month till winter, so didn't get to "explore" the car much. Thanks in Advance for any and all responses.
If you have the glove box SD card slot, you have PDR / NAV. You should have PDR and NAV icons on the info display. If you scan the QR code on the door jamb there will be RPO code UQT (optional on 1/2LT).
C7 pdr supports sd cards up to 32 gb formatted Fat32. If you want to use a larger card you need to use a 3rd party utility to format Fat32. I had a 1 tb card formatted Fat32 for a while - then it failed. (C8 requirements are different).
For what it's worth, a 32 gb card will hold 11+ hr of recordings. Be sure to STOP and START recording every hour to keep files below the FAT32 limit. I just take a couple extra 32 gb cards on road trips...
I would use a full size SD card and not a micro with adapter to get rid of the extra contacts / failure points.
SD card max 32 gb Class 10 required - most SD cards will be Class 10 U1 40 gb/s write speed or faster. You can use larger than 32 gb if you format FAT32 with 3rd party utility. As I said, 32gb will record 11+ hours. You still need to STOP and START recording every hour or so or you will hit FAT32 file size limit and recording will stop WITH NO MESSAGE!
You can buy a brand name card meeting these specs for less than $10.
I just bought these which greatly exceed the specs (remember that the C7 PDR is 2014 technology):
