That is true, it won't hurt. although any good tire shop can also test the sensors right where they are
Enie , I have a ton of specialty tools and diagnostic equipment ,for all makes and models , Tech II , GDS2 , MBenz , Autel and various TPMS tools , I have never seen a tool that "tests" a TPMS sensor , I have seen them that put them in learning mode but never seen one that can tell you if it's transmitting and if the signal is correct ....What tool can test them ? I need tonadd that one to my collection lol
It only stands to reason that if they work , u can rule out the car as the problem .......
Dave
welp
glad I listened to you
brought my one winter wheel up from the basement
Connected in 2 damn seconds.
jesus
I still can't believe all four of those sensors died over the same storage period but whatever, I guess they did.
now I get to find out if the "service tpms system" warning will prevent it from passing inspection
If so I'm just going to push my inspection out a couple months and wait till I put my winters back on and then take the 4 loose wheels
to be fixed

Thanks for all the suggestions
Glad it's not the car as that could have been way more expensive fix ..... who knows could be like watch batteries .... you never know how long they have been sitting on the shelf ...
My Mercedes always telling me " replace key battery soon" yet my wife's key , that is the same age sits in the same basket as my key when not being used, still has the same battery in it from when we bought the car .
Dave, I never looked at it that closely my local tire dealer has it and next time I'm up there I'll ask , when I was having that trouble last year I saw it working so I know it will wake up the tpms check the battery, read pressure
