While I'm waiting for diff replacement authorization, the 'what if they say no' scenario runs through my head:
- why pay $3100 for a GM diff when a Wavetrac is about $2000
- why pay $2500 for GM to replace it when I'm handy with a wrench and have long winters?
I don't have a lift, but I would get an ez-lift with the money saved. Along with other specialty tools, like a tranmission holder-upper.
I have the service manual, the process looks lengthy but not particularly difficult, assuming that any shimming in the diff is done by Wavetrac.
What am I missing? Am I underplaying the difficulty of this job?
