Walmart—> Freon in a can —> removed cover and checked pressure —> it’s in the red with car off
Car on, air on full blast, same pressure reading (in the red) but I can’t hear the compressor
I can hear the cars rpm change slightly but that all so familiar compressor sound is missing.
Next check is the fuses; also read here that disconnecting the battery did it?
also no codes no CEL, it’s a 2014 Z51
how can I test if my compressor is going out? That’s my prediction but I want to try everything before spending that 200$ for the diag
Yeah happened to me AC was intermittent a few times over the months and then one day it just never blew cold again. From what my mechanic told me it’s not the compressor it’s the little solenoid switch to activate it attached to it. He just replaced the whole thing anyways since the labor to get to it is quite heavy. Ended up being $1600 total with parts.
Time for service. Low refrigerant pressure will lock out the compressor. I've been told that you can't charge the system using pressure gauges. A shop will evacuate the system and recharge a certain weight of refrigerant per the car's spec. There is a lot less refrigerant in modern cars than in years past.
This is not the Chevrolet ownership experience we strive for. Our team would like the opportunity to learn more about the HVAC on your Corvette and investigate ways we can potentially assist. Seek out a professional shop as they have the right equipment and will find a leak if you have one and then add the correct amount of refrigerant…too much is just as bad as too little.

I tend to ask "Where did the refrigerant go?". It's not like it gets used up so even if you fill it up, what makes you think it won't leak out again? I suppose one option is to keep filling it every so often. The other is to go find out where it is leaking from and fix that leak.
