Default Driver side window acting up when door is open? *FIXED*

ISSUE FIXED, it was the door lock actuator on the drivers side. Ordered a new one from eBay for $46 shipped and installed myself. I will have a video showing how to replace it soon. 👍

Hey guys I’ve been having a random issue it comes and goes. It went a week without doing it then started acting up again. When I open the drivers side door the window will go down the little bit it should and then it will go back up like it should only once I’ve closed the door.

Sometimes it will correct itself before I close the door and occasionally it won’t and the window will slam on the window trim pieces. I’ve tried the re index of the windows and that didn’t permanently fix anything. Anyone have this issue and what fixed it? it’s only the drivers side door and it’s very inconsistent.

If you can obtain access to a GM MDI2 scan tool or its equivalent you may find DTCs that will tell you what is wrong. OBD2 scan tools won't be able to read the body codes.

Hey Badass,

You're describing part of the problem I'm having with my 2014. I think the answer lies in the door latch assembly in the door frame. My car seems to not recognize the door is open for 2-10 seconds after I open it. Your delay could be even longer or constant. When I hit the inside door release button, it seems to signal the window to index down but if it doesn't sense the door open, it will index back up immediately and cause your problem. I looked up a few other older threads and all indications lead me to the door latch. Another side effect is when you shut the car off and open the door, the radio, lights, etc will stay on as if the door is still closed for that delay. Try this-with the car running, open your door and watch the door open icons on the dash. There are two, one smaller red one at the top and the "door open" display in the center. They should indicate immediately when the door opens with no delay. You can also open the passenger door a few times to see how the indicators work with that door. If it waits for a few seconds before it pops up or never indicates open, I'll bet it's the latch like mine. I'll be replacing mine next week. I'll let you know if it fixes my problem. Jack

After doing more research I came to the same conclusion and ordered the door latch assembly from eBay for $47 shipped. It arrives tomorrow so hopefully I’ll install it soon and report back. Please do the same and let us know if this also fixed your issue. 👍 on eBay they call it the “door lock actuator” some have called it the latch.

ISSUE APPEARS TO BE FIXED, it was the door lock actuator on the drivers side. Ordered a new one from eBay for $46 shipped and installed myself. I will have a video showing how to replace it soon. 👍 I will report back if it starts to act up again.

Hello there!
Encountered the same issue and thinking about replacing the part, so a few questions:
- did you order a new or a used from eBay?
- was it GM OEM or an aftermarket part?

Video would help, but need to get the part first. Thanks in advance!

it was a new non oem part. They’re less than $50 on eBay. It def fixed the issue 👍
