Anyone had to replace a water pump housing? How difficult is it?
It's always fun to come on the internet and admit a stupid mistake. I replaced my thermostat a couple of months ago. Now when I quickly speed up, the temps go higher. I ordered a new temperature sensor and went to install it. Easy enough until I cross-threaded it. Even when I felt like ti was taking a little too much effort to put it in, well, I didn't quit and it broke! Now I can have it towed somewhere and fixed, or do it myself. Can I get it out easily? Anything I should worry about?
If that happened to me I would try this to see if I could remove what's left. Then see how the threads in the pump are and clean them up or chase them if you can.
Ok, since you guys are good at figuring out parts, I need more help! I got everything put back together, but there are two hoses that connect to the outlets in this photo. There are plastic fittings that go onto the housing and the hose connects to them. I cracked one of these when pulling it off. Anyone know the part numbers?
They look like this, but one is smaller than the other and I want to get the right ones!

I don't see the connectors separately (yet). How are they retained in the water pump manifold? Snap rings? I had a small plastic heater hose connector on my Impala break - shop replaced with a metal connector...
I ordered the water pump housing from Rock Auto. Genuine GM part and it came with the bolts and the gaskets already on it. I'm impressed.
Yeah, on the top photo you shared, on the left side, looks like the connectors I need. Yes, connected with snap rings. It looks like a pain to replace the whole assembly. I guess I could buy the hose assembly and pull the ends off, but at $153 I don't want to! I only broke one, the smaller one. Terrible design.
I’m getting my water pump housing (WPH) with the two heater hoses, and both lower/upper radiator hoses replaced tomorrow on my 2016 C7 Z51. My mechanic in Korea is saying the job may take more than a day. I call BS!
How many hours of labor would it take just to replace the WPH and the two heater hoses? Google AI says 2-4 hours. Does that sound about right?
And how much longer to replace the two lower/upper radiator hoses? I’m guessing since all coolant is already drained, maybe another hour to be generous, correct?
Please let me know so I don’t get ripped off! Thank you all! - Chris

I'm not a mechanic, but it took me a whole day to do it myself. I took a lot of photos to remember where everything went as I took it apart, but I would say 2-4 hours is not enough. You have to remove a lot of parts to get to the waterpump!
