Engine Light and Service Stabilitrak Error After Storage
Hi all,
Wonder if yous can help with an issue am having I’ve taken my 2014 C7 out after storing it for 5 months, and I’m now getting an engine light and a Service Stabilitrak error. The car has also gone into limp mode. I’ve seen some things online suggesting to check the spark plugs, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this problem and found a fix for it.
You probably have a P0300 (random misfire)…the Service Stabilitrak light will illuminate because of the misfire and also Reduced Engine Power…even my Toyota 4 Runners “Traction Control” light will illuminate if I get a misfire…take the car to your friendly auto parts store and they will read your trouble codes or buy your own scan tool.
thanks for your reply, what would be the best scanning tool to get?
Well what's your budget ??...if you are not going to be the one that will be working on your own car one of those cheap phone app "code readers" will suffice and only offer basic information...they will only read Powertrain trouble codes so if you have an issue like an HVAC problem you won't know it because those codes don't illuminate the MIL (Check Engine Light) and are not Powertrain codes...if you really want to learn and be able to diagnose your car get a Factory Level or a similar aftermarket one with bidirectional control...with bidirectional control you can command various components like cooling fans or a fuel pump to turn on and it makes diagnosing much easier ...if you have another car best with an aftermarket...you can get a good one like Autel or Launch for around $500.00 or a little less and best to buy from the manufacturer because many of the ones on Amazon are "gray market" and if you have a problem with one of these the manufacturer will NOT warranty the scan tool...if the scan tool is from the Autel Store on Amazon that would be a safe bet too.
This would be a good one from the Autel Store...see the check engine light symbol in the upper left of the scan tool...that is called Generic or Global OBD2...you don't have to enter the car make, model etc...it's good to have that in a scan tool...I use Launch, Autel, Snap On and a few others and each one gives you a little something different.
Do the battery first. A low battery will cause a string of silly problems. I dont drive mine everyday and I keep it on a trickle charge to prevent issues like this. They all went away.
