I have the original tires on my C7 GS and only 3K miles - when should a person replace them due to age - no cracks and or damage and the wheels are fine. I want to get as many miles as possible out of them - just worry about age - it is garage kept.
Tires should be replaced after 6 years from manufacturer date…week and year of manufacture date on the tire…many tire shops will not repair tires past this 6 year timeframe.
Michelin recommends tires be "thoroughly inspected at least once per year by a professional... after five years or more in use" and replaced no longer than "10 years after their date of manufacture," regardless of wear/appearance.
This will irritate many, but attached are pictures of 22 yr old Dexcool from my 92 C4, converted to Dexcool in 96 when it came out and changed in 2002 before Silver State Classic Race. Also pictures of my same car's original water pump removed in April of this year. Removed to change front crank oil seal. Notice no corrosion in the water pump, neither was any in the head or block passages. My 14 yr old Dexcool in my 08 HHRSS was in the same condition. Not saying its a great idea to go 22 yrs, but 5 yr changes in my opinion are excessive.
