Having my first headlight failure at 44k miles and10 yrs, I am curious what most are getting for miles/yrs on lamp life? Looking at different bulbs, not sure if i want to go with a bit brighter with shorter life or not.
Thanks!
I have 144k miles, 3500 hours, and 7 years on my car. HIDs still bright as ever.
Fun fact: HID bulbs need to be warmed up to operating temperature before turning off again. Around 2 to 3 minutes. The salts need time to convert to plasma. If you send voltage to the salts and don't allow enough time for the reaction to take place, the salts get destroyed. Never flash your lights if they are off. Disable any courtesy light features, such as when you unlock/lock your doors. HIDs will outlive you and the car if you maintain them.
