Default Throttle Controller Causing Limp Mode

I had a Soler Throttle Controller installed in a 19 C7 GS.
It was involved in a fender bender and to save from taking the unit out,
I unplugged the display. Later, when I reattached it, went into limp mode.
I believe I had to clear the code to get it running normal again.
Should I disconnect the battery and then reattach the display?
or do I have to disconnect it from behind the pedal?
Dont want to damage anything. Thank you.

You could try disconnecting the battery. Also, IIRC correctly the instructions say to open the doors and wait for the cabin lights and car to go to "sleep", then it's ok to work/install the controller. Maybe performing either of these actions will solve your problem

Don't disconnect your battery as you will loose your emission readiness states and they take quite a while to change back.

Clear the DTC code and you should be OK.

Here's why you went into limp mode (from page 3 of the manual):

Important: The throttle actuator control (TAC) system remains energized for a few minutes after ignition is off. It will also get energized for a few minutes upon opening doors or trunk, also if using your key fob. If the pedal connector is disconnected while the TAC system is energized your ECM might register a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or enter Limp mode on your next start.

If you ever have to disconnect/reconnect in the future, follow this from the manual page 4 (I leave the key fob at least 30 ft from the car):

Ignition off. Open driver’s door, and any other door if needed, including trunk. Place and keep key fob outside the car until step 6. Wait 10 minutes for the TAC system to de-energize (timeout) before proceeding.
