My tires cup 2 were made in 2019 - I have read 6-8 years and that they need replaced due to age. I only have 3k on them and they look and drive great. Are they safe to use based upon age or am i at risk? I have not been able to get a good answer and need some advice from those with experience with tire longevity.
The bigger deal,,,, how they have been used or abused. Have they been setting in the sun or has it been in a protected garage? Take a close look at the side walls for small cracking. I wouldn't worry about it, if they look good. Now,,,,, if you plan on going 100 MPH or racing your car, maybe a different story. Driving it for a beer,,, not a big deal.
Based on your description if your tires' condition, and assuming they've been properly cared for, they sound safe. Michelin recommends annual inspection after five years and replacement at 10 years, as a "precaution."
As stated above, I'd follow Michelin's recommendations.... https://www.michelinman.com/auto/aut...need-new-tires
But if your tires still ride well after 6 years & 3000 miles, I'd probably run them for another season or two.
So, I bought an ultra low mile 2016 Z51 this fall. The car was driven but stored mostly in a climate controlled garage. The car had the original Michelins on it. The tires showed "as new", but I was not about to trust the age. When dismounting the tires, the beads on every tire were dry rotted and they all tore from the tire. I would stick with the 5-8 year suggestion........

I don't know about my 2016 as far as history goes but it wasn't dry rotten when the tires were removed.
