Need a spring compressor for changing transmission mounts?
Hi all first post here. I have a bad transmission mount on my 2014 c7 base with the m7 trans. One of the steps in the procedure to change the mount is to use a GM tool J-33432-b which appears to be a leaf spring compressor and is over $1000. My question is if there is a way to avoid using this speciality tool? I have dug around in the forums and YouTube and there isn’t much info about replacing trans mounts.
there is no transmission mounts on the C7 they are located on the differential 3 bolts holds it in. will need to lower the cradle down. no speciality tools need just jacks & hand tools

Sadly, the Factory Service Manual disagrees with you. There are only engine and transmission mounts. If the FSM replacement procedure is followed a leaf spring compressor is required to replace the transmission mount.
However, that doesn't mean the GM tool has to be used. I have seen workarounds using various hydraulic jacks to remove the spring pressure from the lower control arms so the cradle can be dropped.

Bill do you have any detail on how to remove the spring pressure using jacks instead of the gm tool?
