My almost 70k mile '14 seems to take a second or 2 longer to start when cold (40 deg in SoCal is considered cold). Normal??
So, before I swap the plugs, should I expect problems?
When I changed the plugs on my '09 c6, several of the wire plug ends were damaged. The oem wires had small ceramic pieces inside that broke easily. I plugged them back on to the new plugs and they seemed to work well. But, I would assume that if the ceramic inserts weren't needed, they wouldn't have put them in. I later replaced the wires.
So, buy new wires and plugs together, or wait and see.
In the past, I've had plug wires last very long, unless damaged.
Is it slow cranking and extended cranking or just extended cranking?
Slow is usually the battery.
Plugs are supposed to be good to 100k miles. Pull the easy ones on the driver's side and inspect them. If they look worn or have excessive gaps, replace all 8. Passenger side requires fuse box removal so they take a little longer which is also why you'll want to do wires at the same time. OEM wires are very good. RockAuto sells the OEM wires for something like $60. When removing the fuse box, don't break the post when loosening the nut to remove the positive battery cable. A replacement can be hard to get.
