Default C7 GS Front Brake Pads

Hi all!

I bought a used vette and have just finished changing the oil, rear axle fluid, and coolant. While I had the car jacked up I checked the brakes to see if the front pads are close to needing replacing. I was hoping someone could identify what pads these are. I intend to replace them with OEM pads, but was curious what pads are on the car now. I tried to get a service history but the dealership apparently changed systems some time back and don’t have a complete history for my car.

By the photo, I can't see how much thickness of the pad is left, however I personally would not go back with a OEM pad because of how bad they cause so much brake dust on the wheels, I would look around the forum for recommendations for low dust pads. I myself went to the Hawk pad like use on the Sprig Mountain cars, but may opinions what others have used trying to get rid of the massive brake dust issue.

What year is your car? I have a 2014 with OEM Brembo pads and don't get any brake dust. I don't track my car. I do get a bit aggressive on my way for a beer.
Those pads are different than my front pads.

I would look at the Hawk ceramic brake pads. Almost no dust, great bite on the pads. These cars, especially the GS has incredible braking capabilities.

Yes, the Brembo pads put out a lot of dust, and even worse they wear the rotors pretty aggressively. The Ceramics are great to correct both issues and work very well on the street. As far as the pads maybe

EBC Redstuff Ceramic Brake Pads

and if so they should be pretty good.

Just be sure you know what your purchasing. The super duper race style pads are not worth a hSit on normal street cars. They only work when they are heated up to race temps. They never get to operation temp from normal driving.
