I did redline also on my 2nd trans change. The first time I used OEM GM fluid.
I did notice a better 1-2 shift in winter time cold shifts. I never have any issues when it's warm.
The Valvoline Synchromesh is a GL-4 gear oil, NOT correct for the C7 M7.
The M7 requires a fluid meeting Dexron-III (3) requirements, like GM 88861800, or Redline D4 ATF, or Mobil-1 Synthetic ATF.
Do not use an ATF fluid that meets Dexron-IV (4).
I think you meant to say “Do not use an ATF fluid that meets Dexron-VI (6)”. I have never heard of a Dexron 4. Dexron 6 is an automatic tranny fluid with a lower viscosity introduced to replace DEXRON 3 to save fuel for automatic tranny cars. DEXRON 6 is too light for Tremec M6 and M7 manuals.
i have also used AMSOIL ATF and their TorqueDrive fluids in previous M6 vettes and both are DEXRON 3 fluids.
After 6 years of track events I changed the original transmission fluid in my 2015, 3 years ago, using the GM fluid. Yes, there is some nibbling on the 1-2 shift if the transmission is cold (like all 6 and 7 speed Tremecs used in C5, C6 and C7 Corvettes), but it only takes driving a couple of miles to overcome it even in below-freezing temps.
