My key fob isn't working, put new battery in. Still won't open doors to the car. Then if I used the trunk key I could open the door release in trunk, go in and start motor and as long as I sat in car I can turn motor on and off. Once I leave the door locks and will not open unless I go thru the trunk routine but now it won't start at all.. I have power to the radio, the dash will come up but engine won't start even if I put FOB in the steering column and eventually the dash screen shuts off.. what are my options before I have to tow in to a shop?

Do you have a second key fob that you could try?

How old is the car battery? Get it tested? Charge it? A battery over 3 - 4 years old is suspect.

Are you putting the fob in the steering column slot in the correct orientation?

New fob batteries may have been on the shelf for a while. A fresh battery will read 3.25 volts or above.

See this thread about adding another fob:
