Hey guys, I got a check engine light and pulled the codes with my scan tool. I cleared the codes to see if they might have been related to my battery being bad. It was doing some weird stuff just before the old battery gave out.
after replacing the battery the check engine light did come back on with the same codes.
I have replaced O2 sensors many times and this one appears to be simple.
My question is, all the sensors I see say they require programming after replacement. I don't recall ever having to program a sensor??? Is this a C7 thing?
Does the dealer have to do this or can I?

O2 sensors do not require any programming after replacement. There is a resistance re-learn procedure, but the sensor will function without it.
Below is what sets those 2 DTC’s…with the car running at idle and at operating temp the Bank 2 Sensor 2 should be fairly steady between 600-800mv’s…if you see something close to 1 volt (1000mv’s) disconnect that sensor (passenger rear) and see if you see the 450mv bias voltage reading scan data…if you see 450 the sensor is bad…if you see close to 1 volt you have a wiring issue…possibly the 12 volt heater circuit wire is shorted to the signal wire…the scan tool will only show a little over 1 volt but you won’t see 12 volts…there is NO programming for an O2 sensor and PLEASE don’t go to a dealership for a diagnosis…they’re IDIOTS !!
