recently built motor. cam lifters springs pushrods vvt delete and dod delete . motor is in the car fully assembled z06 lt4 blower port injection all pulleys belts etc exhaust everything is assembled. I have now come to the realization that the motor is completely dry and it's a dry sump. fill the dry sump oil may get to the oil pan but not the critical parts on initial start up.
low profile valve covers I do have access to ports but doubt it will drain down to the cam and parts
It may be a pain in the a-- but pulling the plugs radically reduces the load on the rod and main bearings while cranking and waiting to see oil pressure.

the issue is theres zero oil oil the motor. it was completely apart so its bone dry short of assembly lube. I would feel much better if theres oil in the motor before cranking it. no issue pulling the plugs but that won t help my zero oil issue
Just hold the gas pedal to the floor while you normally start the car…it will only crank but not start…this is called a “clear flood crank”.
@C5 Diag I've used this "clear flood crank" before but when I lift my foot off the accelerator the car starts. Is there a way to use this mode to just crank it with no eventual start?
If you leave your foot to the floor it will stop cranking in about 10 seconds…if you need a shorter time press the stop button…if you need longer than 10 seconds remove the crank relay and jumper terminals 30 and 87 and it will crank as long as you want.

Excellent, thank you. I think that 10 second crank would work well for the OP's challenge considering assembly lube was used on replaced parts. Miss the days of priming the oil pump and system by removing the distributor shaft
Make sure battery is fully charged. Pull the spark plugs, pull the fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay, crank 10 seconds, stop for 1 minute, then crank another 10 seconds. That way, zero fuel will be pumped into the engine and it won't start.

What are you worried about damaging?
The most important parts are the crank and the lower end, the valve train is more stout to oil starvation. I drove my C6 home and cranked it two or three times before I realized my pump was dead (my pressure was zero but I initially thought it was the sensor). I only had minor scoring on the crank journals. No damage to the upper valve train. The engine if it doesn't turn over isn't spinning other than by the starter its effectively manual turning, can you damage an engine by manually turning it?
The oil is to coat parts to protect them as they spin and get hot. You won't all out damage them by turning them at low speeds...
@LT1 Z51 my main concern is the new 1000$ oil pump has no oil in it. the motor has been sitting for 2 months the and yes the crank and rod bearings have a thin film but no oil in the motor. same for the upper motor parts.
