I've got new wheels and new tpms modules. I looked on line and install torque specs are all over the place. 35-80 inch pounds.
So, anyone know or can recommend the correct spec.?
Install dry or use lube?
I installed the TPMS's on mine. The tire shop that installed the tires on the new rims didn't know what the F they were doing. The important part, make sure the washers are in the correct order. The big rubber seal goes against the inside of the rim. On the outside start with the plastic washer, then metal washer, then screw on the keeper. I got mixed info on the torque for these also. I finally just snugged them up tight. You can feel the rubber seal compress. Hold the sensor straight while tightening, it will want to turn. I also angled the sensor towards the rim but not touching it. They are aluminum so they can deform.
I didn't use any lube.
I didn't have to "program" mine. Just drove and they synced up.
Yea, it doesn't appear to be rocket science, but it's a little irritating to not be able to get correct info on tightening aluminum nuts/threads. I even went to the Schrader web site (no help), called their customer service hot line (left a message), etc. On line references show 35-80 inch lbs.
So, I think I'll go mid range, 50 inch lbs, or just snug.
I really don't trust tire shop a employee with a 18" breaker bar, even though they should be able to do it right.
