I'm trying to help my father out, he's not a computer person at all. I'm trying to find the right OBD2 Scanner for his car. It's a 2014 Corvette C7 he's not sure why the engine light is on and the car has 30K miles he assumes that it's nothing major. I don't want him to have to buy one of the more expensive ones if he doesn't have to. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Visit your friendly parts store and they can scan it...diagnosing this for your father may be more challenging.
Except to pay at least $500 + for a scanner that will do everything you need.
A scanner won't tell you what is wrong or what part to replace, it only provides data that you have to be able to interpret yourself. Knowledge is just as important as a good scanner, you need to have both for success.
