Will the new Z have a removable roof?

Couple more notes about that production chart:
- Considering over 80% of Grand Sport verts were automatics, that suggests somewhere around 700+ units of Grand Sport vert 3LTs with automatics, at prices knocking right on the Z06's doorstep.
- 71% of the 427 verts were optioned up to 1SC. That means 1800 cars starting at $86k MSRP before other options.
GM might not offer a vert or targa Z06 right off the bat, but there seems to be a market for such a car.

Minus the 500+ hp (over 600 with supercharger?), probably widebody design, likely fatter tires, available (if not standard) carbon brakes, likely revised aero and suspension...yeah, the Stingray is going to be just like the Z06 minus the badging.

If you haven't got the actual Z06 hardware, then I don't see what there is to brag about. On the other hand, a Z06 with the 500-640+ hp upgrade probably will be faster than a standard Stingray, open top or not. As the saying goes "it isn't bragging if you can do it."
Check the breakdown of '13 Z06 production:
When purists decry the watering down of the Z06, has that ship already sailed?
Check the breakdown of '13 Z06 production:
- Only 83 cars (that's a paltry 17.6%) were ordered with the Z07 package with Cup tires ($7.5k), the ultimate roadracing form of the car (and the one attributed with the 7:22 on the 'Ring).
- Meanwhile, over 240 (50%+) of Z06s were ordered with the top-spec $8.8k 3LZ package, outnumbering base-spec 1LZ cars by nearly 4:1.

Hopefully the vert that they are covering is a FRC , I would love to see the C5Z top back, it would separate the body even more and would look killer with the wider body, tires etc.
IMO an FRC looks much better than the hatchback, it makes all the models look the same from 20ft out, I know it probably won't happen but I vote for FRC.

I agree with Guibo - I bet there is a solid market for a convertible hi-po. And while the 427 vert was a one year only car - and some of its sales no doubt driven by that fact - it does appear to be a market slice there to capture.
Whether GM will move to capture it, I don't know. I guess we'll soon see.
