There is no reason they can not go Vert, targa and fixed roof leave the decision to the buyer,

Makes sense with the C7's increased frame stiffness attribute! No roll bar wouldn't make it much of a track variant, but, maybe it is under there?

you need a fixed roof or roll bar or both depending how fast you are at a road course/track. vert and targa would need a factory cage.

Maybe that's what the surprise is....they made attachment points for aftermarket roll cages with little to no modification.

This is completely false. You really don't know what you're talking about. A convertible needs a rollbar to do HPDEs and to run down a drag strip, but a coupe with the targa pane in place doesn't.

Here at Gateway if your running 11.50 or less you need a min of a roll bar regardless. (speaking of drag racing of course)

True... I didn't elaborate. My point was that a targa doesn't have the more restrictive rules a vert is subject to. As you said, all cars have to have a rollbar at the drags once they get fast enough.

now that would be special but verts are heavier in general and don't belong with the Z

I'd suggest the sales success of the 427 convertible in the last year of the c6 generation makes a convertible version of the LT4 in both manual and automatic versions a home run in the seventh generation.

I am guessing it with be a lt1 with a little 1.9 supercharger from the ZL1. A 2.3 would have given it an easy 675hp.

I think the big surprise will be either an auto option or a convertible. Both would be insane

What do you have in mind? It's an aluminum frame. I don't think "little to no modification" can be used in the same sentence when talking about a roll cage and aluminum frame. It's very expensive, because of the labor.
