Default Paddle Response Time ???

Read a bunch of the other threads but I don't find the answer even in the video.
Is the 8 speed Automatic goin to have
the "Paddle Response Time" been dramatically improved?

I drive a 2012 Supercharged Camaro with the A6 .
Transmission shifts great in auto.
But in Paddle mode i can hit the up shift 400 rpm before redline,
and it will sometimes hit rev limiter
Thank goodness brakes don't have this type of response time.
I was expecting the paddle to be like a Gun trigger , once you hit it the effect is immidiate, not how it works.

Your thinking DCT what you have is a "gimmick" they are all like that its a slushbox. the paddles are for the rev matching

There is nothing inherently faster about a DCT than a "slushbox". In fact, the slushbox has even more clutches than a DCT, and could potentially be even faster if shift speed was a high priority during the design. However, in addition to transmission design, there are other factors that affect shift speed, such as engine response. The faster an engine can increase or decrease revs, the faster a smooth shift can happen without impacting the drivetrain. If the engine is slow to change revs, the drivetrain will need to accelerate or decelerate the engine as the shift occurs, increasing shock loads.

So, in some ways the torque converter can be an advantage because the slushiness can dampen some of the shock that occurs during a fast shift, when the engine hasn't quite reached the final speed. Even if GM has an ultra-quick DCT, it may never feel as good as a Porsche PDK because the inertia of the engine is much greater and therefore it takes longer to respond and will affect the shift quality. The torque converter based 8-speed may therefore work in GM's favor and allow faster shifting than a PDK/DCT would (and GM is saying the new transmission shifts faster than a PDK). Hopefully that quickness occurs both with paddles and when the car is left to shift on its own.
