Default March issue of Motor Trend

I just got the March Motor Trend in the mail, and it looks like there are some interesting numbers. All estimates of course...

0-60 3.4-3.6
Curb Weight of 3450
Base Price of $85,000

Says its 2 inches wider in front and 3 in back than the Stingray.

Nothing else really new that I saw. But I think its interesting to see some published numbers.

So, you think it's interesting to see estimated numbers? If I'm not mistaken, half the threads here offer the same info!! All estimates!! So, Motor Trend hasn't done anything special IMO!!! All speculation!!!

I realize it's an est. but a base price of 85k is 8-10 over what I had expected...rrm

My "estimates" are 3.2 seconds 0-60, 3500 curb weight and base price of $78,000.

Yes, I think interesting as well....

I would put a hair more stock in the mag then most of the guys who spout off numbers on forums that have no clue, like the guy who started a thread that said no way the Z06 would be cheaper than a
ZR1...

At least its fun to see something in writing even if not exact...

Lighten up

My estimate is I'm really gonna want one, but won't be able to afford it

But in all seriousness,

0-60: ~3.2 seconds

1/4 mile: low 11's/ high 10's

Between 3400 and 3500 pounds

Base price between 73k and 78k

I estimate 0-60 2.9-3.2 sec. and base price of $90K which sounds ridiculously low considering the entire package.

Dont put stock in Motor Trend predictions, they might as well be throwing darts for predictions considering that they have a pretty terrible track record regarding past predictions. Until GM throws out the numbers everything you read is pretty much as informed as many of the posters on this forum and as such should be taken with a grain of salt and zero expectations.

The reason I think this MotorTrend's numbers are bogus beyond the fact that GM hasn't released jack about them is that a GM rep (Tadge I think) did say you could buy a fully loaded Z06 for less than $100k. The Z07 package will likely be over $10k by itself, top interior trim might follow the Stingray at about $8k, throw some competition seats in for another $2k and the base price is already at $80k. Then theres all the other options like the 8speed auto, CF interior trim, wheel finishes, etc. etc.

Motor Trend just comes up with their price estimates by pulling a number out of the air...in this case they split the difference between base price for a C6 ZR1 and the base price of the C7 Stingray...at least thats what the math looks like to me.

This is Deja Vu. I remember all these predictions and everything last year with the Stingray. All the speculation etc, and the painful, never ending wait for the actual numbers. They really wait until the last second to release information.

3.2, maybe, under ideal conditions, but 2.9 is out of the question without AWD.

I'm going to say:
3.4 0-60 with Auto
10.9 1/4 with Auto
3500 lbs
$80,000

I think 3.4+ is a bit high for a 0-60, the curb weight at 3450 would be nice but I expect 3500+, Price sounds exactly right.

Tony Swan of car and driver did state that in his opinion the automatic a8 would be the faster track car on a road course.

He as very positive about the stingray and seemed even more impressed by the z06....

Pure speculation I'm sure but it was interesting to hear as he, the gentleman from the Wall Street journal and the gentleman from the Detroit free press gushed over the new z06 on autoline.tv at around the 60 minute mark.

You must not read well. I said its interesting to see published numbers. I do find it interesting to see what Motor Trend thinks the car will be. I don't find it interesting to hear what people like you have to say about it. If you dont care, don't comment.

Ya you're probably right. But 0-60 is really meaningless anyways. It's just a marketing thing imo.

I'm really hoping that the "strip down track model" will cost over $150 and will not be available in an auto.

....mostly cause I want to hear some more whining out of the cry babies.

Why do you want it to cost over 150k?
