The z06 vert is specifically targeting the aarp gray hairs...of course it isnt going to have black wheels...lol. Surprised they arent chrome honestly...shouldve been a waxer callout.

GM is saying the the C7Z06 will be the most track capable corvette ever, a vert would seriously mess up airflow over the car. I seriously doubt that the car is the picture will be called a Z06, it may have the same engine etc... But I believe this is the C7 version of the C6 427 coupe.
I hope I'm wrong all together and that is a Z06 fixed roof coupe in disguise ala C5 Z06, I know I'm dreaming but if that ever happened I would want that car now!
The C6 427 was not a Z06 because it did not have an aluminum frame, not because it messed up air flow. Now that they have the aluminum frame under control, lets just hope they can give it the name it deserves. I bet it overall outsells the Z06 coupe.

Good point about the airflow. It will disturb the car aerodynamics specially the downforce. And by not having the targa roof that takes away 40% of the C7 chassis rigidity over the C6 so more chassis flex in the most capable track car.

As several people including myself have said all along.. its going to be Z06 Vert. The roofline of that car is without a doubt a convertible.
This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone as the '13 427 Vert was basically a Z06 Vert with a steel frame.. and it sold very well. You can play the name game all you want, but the convertible top & steel frame are the only differences between a '13 427 Vert and a C6Z06. Everything else is exactly the same on both cars.

I'm talking about AERO, which will GREATLY be disturbed in a vert, making the car much less track capable than a coupe.
It will sell well to a different age group of people, not track rats.
How many ragtops do you see run at the ring?.......

And tell me how many 427 coupes did GM run at the ring, or any track for that matter? ........ None
Z06 is the track car, the vert will not be called a Z06, I agree with the man who said this car is for the older demegraphic, you can't even track a vert without a roll bar reinforced chassis etc.... It wouldn't even pass tech, Z06 is a car you buy and take straight to the track.
