IMO a lot of ZR owners are very much looking forward to putting the new Z in their stable.

Everything that's good is out of the bag. Now brace for the price and weight.

Not for this owner. It will be a complement to the ZR1.

Same here, although I'll go level 2 aero on the new Z.

This was expected from GM with this new machine. A C7Z06 more powerful than the C6 ZR1. Once the tuners and owners begin modifying this car the horsepower is going to really jump.

Its going to be a pulley, tune, headers, and intake away from 650 rwhp. And probably 100 shot away from being a 9 second every day car

I have a feeling your right, when it is too good to be true it is too good to be true.

I'm not too worried about the price being a total shock (my guess is between $81k and $85k base MSRP which would make it a terrific value) but I am concerned about the final weight numbers. I'm thinking that one of the reasons that it's getting all of this power is because of that.

Depending on drag strip location, track prep and time of year, it might not even need that much to dip into the high 9s, especially the automatics.
Higher stall converter, minor pulley swap (if it's possible), cold air intake, headers, drag radials and tuning could potentially get it there.
Again, as long as the car doesn't come in too heavy.

I'm on Mike Furman's waiting list with $1000 deposit at what he says is #45 where even considering the percentage who will drop out before production, I wouldn't be surprised if I don't see my car until MY2016. I'm okay with that.

but even so, I'm definitely now reconsidering adding ANY mods to the '09 Z06 I bought April 11th with only 2188 miles on her clock. a monster is on the way.

I kind of agree. The Mustang has a smaller motor and makes more HP. I bet the Mustang forums are yucking it up.

Are most of the reputable forum dealers committing to MSRP? I can't wait to see the dealer markup at some of the local dealers. I think $10-$20k will be common with the occasional $30k. When I purchased my Z I was pleased with a $13k discount off a brand new 2009 1LZ. A different dealer had a brand new 2008 2LZ and would not budge off of MSRP and told me nobody was discounting these, but I knew different. When they called me back I told them I was picking up my car that day and got $13k off. Suddenly they wanted to deal. I said thanks but no thanks. They had the nerve to tell me to enjoy my poor mans 1LZ vette, and the 2008 2lz was much more of a car. I didn't even bother arguing, I just hung up the phone, took off work early and by 5:00pm was drooling over my new car

Believe it or not, they're not! At least the forum I'm apart of, expect for maybe one or two people. They love it so much, sometimes when I'm reading the posts, I think I'm here!

I own a ZR1 and I'm not butt hurt at all I'm rather excited about the whole thing... I have a C7 Z06 ordered or should I say I am first on the list for one and the day I get it if they announce a 750hp ZR1 I still won't be butt hurt.

but not until they get back from their Klan meeting.

anyone who sincerely believes there is "a steed for every need" is delusional. take a Ford GT for a rip and you'll want to slap that guy who shows up on various Mustang forums and loves to talk about how Ford does everything "for profit period." yes, that's true, but that's also the reason you won't be permitted to enjoy the likes of a new gen FGT and it's the reason you will have to wait 3 damn years for the next GT500 and the reason you'd still be rolling on POS Goodyears. he needs to line his shareholder pockets instead.

read on Mustang6g.com what he says about something being "certainly a profit center" for Ford after another 'stang loyalist has been agonizing because he has to spend thousands extra for content he doesn't want because it's the way he has to do it to get content he does want.

a guy named COOKIE MONSTER says, "What Ford does, and which I absolutely HATE and DESPISE, is make the Navigation option only available on Premium trims plus you need to add the Electronics package option. So that $795 turns into $6500 if you actually want just Nav."

a guy named Madlock subsequently says, "The Ruby Red, and Triple Yellow, like other colors Ford offers like Platinum White Metallic, Crystal Champagne, and other tri-coats are a 3-stage paint that looks terrific but can be a bugger for body shops to get right. It's certainly a profit center at $395, but it's also a more expensive process to apply.

think Ford got no bailout? of course they did. it's just that YOU who buy Fords are the ones who are going to pay for it.

Mustang is my first love going all the way back to the 1960s. My 2013 GT500 was a hoot. but, spend time on Mustang forums and in short order you will figure out that you either subscribe to the cracker coalition or just like Rudolph, you're not going to be invited to play in any reindeer games. I don't subscribe to the cracker coalition and however much fun a GT500 is, I'm not going to be flying that flag.
