650?!? try 3,000 HP
I think the Z06 will be mean as hell... no doubt.
But I'm not sure why the Z06 is being looked at as "amazing power numbers" when race shops around the country now make +/- 3,000 HP engines on a regular basis.
soo...
I think there will be a next level vette (ZR1 or whatever) and it will be 1,001 HP. It will be fixed roof and have no cargo area. That area will instead be used by components they had to relocate to make more room in the engine bay. (and no one will care)

I don't think so.
And there is virtually no similarity between an emissions-legal, durability-tested, semi-mass produced pump gas engine going into a production car and a "3000 HP engine" built in a "race shop".

yup, 3000hp is so common theses day, shoot, I build my own 2500hp motors all the time in my garage...and my weedeater has about 950 SHP (String HP)....and my Troybuilt tractor, I think I'm pushing about 1210 rwhp....obliterate that stupid grass....and do HPDE events with it....sometime I'll cut the track's grass while doing HPDE with it...dual purpose baby! my blower has about 1000hp, I had to bring that down for 1900 because every time I'd use it, I'd take off 12 feet in the air and then fell on my a$$...kinda hurt...but now at 1000, as long I have glacier spiked hiking boots, I can blow my driveway, safely. As you can see, 3000 hp is just really nothing....I'm going for 5000 on my jetski...I doubt it'll be touching the water at WOT...

OK, those responses were truly hilarious!
hahahaha....
Now, did I say something funny?
1,000 HP cars on pump gas are all over the place... or hasn't anyone noticed?
And as for 3000 HP.. uh.. this was built way back in 2011....
3000HP
just sayin'...

1000hp that passes emissions and warranty requirements and 1000hp are different. I have a 1300hp car in my car, wouldn't pass any testing to be legal for road use.

Exactly my point.
And you are gonna tell me that GM couldn't de-tune your setup by 300 HP to bring it street and emissions legal with enough ECU programming and electronic nannies to keep it reliable only producing that power under the most ideal conditions?
Sure they can... and I think they will.

Ever wonder why no more Viper. Build **** like this and the Corvette will be gone as well.

3000 hp street car...sure, everyone is clamoring for one of those. Shouldn't be hard for GM to completely lose their butt building 50 of those for the 1.5 people that would buy it.
Perfect financial sense. And the rest of the drivetrain components to take that 1 pass down the track surely wouldn't be very expensive...
As Bugs would say...what a maroon!

Since we are making ridiculous statements.. why stop at 3,000hp?
When are we going to get 50,000hp? If we can make a nuclear powered ship.. we can make a nuclear powered car.

Kid, do you have any clue what so ever at the kinds of forces going on inside an engine producing 1,000hp let alone 3,000?
When building a car and you want:
1) Cheap
2) Fast
3) Reliable
...the rule of thumb is...Pick 2. You don't ever get all 3.. EVER!!!
This is why the new Z is so amazing to many. While $80k is not cheap, it has amazing #'s for that price point, being a production vehicle.

Nothing says fun like a car you have to baby the throttle until 5th gear. Probably why you see so many 1000 hp Vettes for sale on this forum....it loses its charm pretty quick.
