Default So pissed

Went to dealer about Z06. Said they have two deposits already and probably only getting one. The two with deposits neither have any plans to track the car. I race go-to the tracks. But lose out to people that just want to say I have a Z06 and probably hardly ever drive it.

Hit up one of the Forum sponsors. There's plenty of reputable dealers that advertise here. I'm sure one of them can get you on a list.

You are not alone Greg. Our dealer will probably get one but he will order a fully optioned vert for the very customer type you described. They will make as many z06s as we will buy so just be a little patient.

Sorry bud but I think that's a dumb reason to be pissed..lots of people don't track these cars I for one don't why should I not have one before you or someone that's going to track the thing ? I am first on the list for one but if I wasn't and the guy ahead of me on the list was going to track the car it's no reason for me to be pissed!!......in saying that good luck with your hunt for the C7 Z06 hope you get one ASAP....

Well just because this is the whole reason the car was designed.
Can get base Stingray save money. Add some body pieces if you like the look..

when has sales criteria been about who takes it to the track or who leaves it in the garage? it's always been about who has the money now vs later. you could buy it and drop it in the grand canyon from a helicopter for all a dealer cares.

Oh thought they were limited to like like 3,500 .. oh ok. About to order radiator and wider tires for my Stingray for now. Hoping that helps tracks temps.

As they get closer to release, it's going to come down to how long one's willing to wait, how much over sticker, or both...

That being said, you may still find some slots available not too far down a list @ MSRP, w/ some legwork.

Good luck!

Complaining about local dealer availability, totally valid and shared frustration among many potential Corvette owners. I still don't understand why I can't order online directly from GM and choose my 'Corvette Authorized Dealership' for delivery. GM can hand them my check for all I care, but there's no need to deal with clueless salesmen and unscrupulous dealerships. You've already done the best thing you can by contacting a forum dealer.

Complaining that your use for the car is more valid than someone else's use, irrelevant. That's like saying that a car is made to break 200 mph, therefor it should never be driven less than 200 mph. Sorry, but everyone gets to treat their toys how they like, even if you buy into the GM marketing plan of 'built in conjunction with the race car'.

At least they had the passion to follow Corvette news enough to know the car was even coming. Imagine them losing out to someone who cared so little about Corvette that they didn't even know the car was coming until 6 months later. Now THAT would be unfair.

I didn't realize you had to track the car to qualify to own a Z06

Gee, and I've had so much fun driving my C6 Z06 on the streets the last few years. I guess I'm a poser after 43 years of street driving Corvettes

Lots of state laws in place about how car sales must be handled. Tesla is working hard to change things--check out the news for the last few months and you will see what I am talking about.

Even if they are able to get laws changed.....there is a reason companies have distribution systems. Tesla could never handle the logistics of producing to-spec (color, options, etc) vehicles and shipping them, negotiating the price, getting the financing, handling R&D, dealing with lawsuits, warranty, producing vehicles for inventories at some kind of holding lots, and all the other countless activities involved making and selling of a large number of cars.

I don't think most people understand the entire function of a dealership. It isn't just to take your money.

All that's going to happen is Tesla will have their own dealerships that are not independent franchises to handle transactions, order inventory, handle custom orders, and service their vehicles (maybe even provide the service of obtaining financing for customers so they don't have to deal with multiple creditors/banks AND the place selling the car). Sounds like a dealership to me.

The question is then, why are dealerships today franchises with Dealer Agreements with manufacturers and not just extensions of the manufacturer already? What's the reason the manufacturers decided to franchise their retail and service locations in the first place and what makes tesla different?

Tesla is trying to bite off more than they can chew and product quality is going to suffer, customer satisfaction is going to suffer, build time is going to lengthen, etc.

my point is, even if tesla succeeds in selling "direct" it isn't going to look or feel any different than it does now. it will just be ONE company getting richer instead of 400. sounds like a great idea.
