Default Ordering process

Would someone be kind enough to tell me how the allocation/ ordering process works?

I am fortunate enough to be #1 on my dealer list but wondered how is that even warranted? Example, say dealer gets 2 allocations and ordering starts tomorrow and for some reason I can't make it to the dealer but the other people in line can. Can they actually place their orders or can only one order be placed and they have to wait until I can make it in to place mine? Or, can the dealer place a hundred orders and only submit 2? Or, does the ordering system only allow you to submit orders for what you have been allocated?

Sorry for the dumb questions however I am new at this and want to make sure I don't get hosed if for some reason I can't make it on the day of ordering.

Thanks

Dealer should have you on the list by your deposit. I'm sure they'd give you a couple days/week or so to allow you to go through with it all.

Some dealers will not take deposits and others will so keep everything in writing (e-mails). I am #1 on the list for 3 dealerships with only one deposit. The other two will not take a deposit. It really depends on the owner. I have every related e-mail stating so, in the event they try to screw me.

Thanks. I have a deposit as well as a "we owe customer" sheet in writing stating I have first rights. But I guess how would I ever really know? Especially if they get 2 allocations and submit 4 orders and mine happened to not get picked up. Oh well. Gotta have faith and hope they do the right thing I suppose.

Your questions are NOT dumb because many of us are struggling to understand this whole mystique of the ordering process of the ZO6. GM enjoys keeping the public in the dark there is no doubt about that. I have asked the question of just "exactly" what is the difference between stage 1, stage 2, and stage 3, along with photos and pricing, etc etc. No one can really give you a straight answer on that question.

This is why if one wants this car early on it is best to get on a listing at a major corvette dealer that will have substantial allocations for the car. The top corvette dealer in the world has not taken any deposits or lists yet....Kerbeck. If you really want one don't waste time with smaller locals...try Kerbeck or one of the other very large dealers that don't have any list yet....they will not until the pricing and their allocation are available.

Reminds me of what I did to get my C7. Only one large dealer, 125 miles away from where I live would take a small deposit Feb 2013. I was number 9. Was told the same thing, when we get our ability to order we'll call and you have to provide payment or we go to the next in line. Since I travel, I decided to essentially pay for the car in May 2013, before any call! In my case had sold my C6 already, sold in 1 day for top dollar, months before I thought it would so had the cash available. Since there is no interest from the bank in today's economy there was no financial loose and getting the car was most important! Anticipating constraints, I made a spread sheet of what if's! For example, if the CF roof was not available then chrome wheels, if it was available than black wheels. Z51, NPP, 3LT were musts! I did get a call the day they could order and had to give up the CF dash to make that order batch. In fact I was out of town! They had agreed in February when I put the small payment to get in line ( in writing) the price would be MSRP and there were no extra's when I picked up the car.
