I believe it takes around 2.5 days to build a Corvette(time it is on the assembly line). The number of Z06's that come off the end of the assembly line each day has nothing to do with how long it takes to build the car but how many are on the assembly line, being built each day. Approximately 170 C7's are built each day, therefore it's conceivable that 170 Z06's could be built each day(if GM wanted to produce that many each day).
I agree. It probably doesn't matter much which model the plant produces, assuming no parts constraints. If total annual production is around 35,000 and Z06 runs around 8,000 annualized (just a guess) then you're looking at around 40 a day. That's roughly consistent with projections of around 5,000 Z06s for 2015.

Is that production consistent with number of orders or ability to produce. I've noticed a number of individuals have orders in at multi Dealers- why and how does that work?

Based on plant capacity of 170 per day. GM produced more than 37,000 Stingrays in the 2014 model year. Based on history, the addition of the Z06, the A8, the European models, etc. there is every reason to think 2015 will be in the same territory.
Those of us with positions at multiple dealers are either canceling out or waiting to see which dealer will likely produce the earliest order. The dealers have a good handle on what percentage of orders will materialize.
Are they still on track to start production in Jan or will it be sooner/later?
The Z06 orders accepted by GM last week, are now at status 3000. The constraint documents for last week indicated a probable TPW (Target Production Week) of 3 Nov for the Z06s.
I ordered an A8 so production start date means nothing to me will be mid 2015 at best for delivery so I just hang around here and and sigh alot when I hear you guys talk about year end delivery

Normal model year changeover is in June of each year. The 2014's didn't go into production until August of last year and ran a full 12 months of production with 2014 production ending this past August. If GM gets the 2015 model year back to their normal schedule, than the 2015's will only have a 10 month run, thus we can expect a reduction in the total number of 2015's.
Putting in orders at multiple dealers just hurts other customers looking to buy a Z06 with an order at one dealer as they don't where they stand. They have to wait until the people that have tied up multiple cars, to cancel their order, or not cancel their order, to see just where they are in line for that car.

That would put Museum Deliveries starting in Nov.
Christmas may come early this year.
Based on the production date of Sept. 4 and delivery date of October 11 for my 2014 C7, my guess is at least a month after production being the first ones produced will more than likely be held for quality review at the factory.
Just a guess !!!!!!

I realize the automatics will be built last but what makes you think it will be "mid year" 2015??? Iam thinking it will be by April or so. I read that they are starting production in Oct. so if that is correct Iam hoping it will not be June or July.

If the manuals start Nov 3 then 2 months would Jan 3. Not sure what happens over the holidays but I'm hoping for delivery by March 15 or so in time for Sebring.
not trying to hijack the thread but are museum deliveries worth it? other than getting to see the museum and driving back are there any other advantages? the cost is about 1% of the total so that's not a big deal but it's at least a 10 hour drive for me.
TPP (Target Production Period) for the first consensus is 9/29 - 10/19. But, between TPW and TPP, it's still a guessing game. I'm betting (and hoping) this first run will be produced well before 11/03.
I'm also expecting cars to be held for QA. Between that and transit, I'm guessing my car will arrive early to mid-December.

It's about a 4-6 hour experience. If anything is wrong with the car, its fixed. David Smith does a great detail job on your car. You get a special Museum Delivery plaque (personalized) in the car. You get a VIP tour of the plant and museum for up to 4 people. You can buy R8C merchandise. It's a great day to remember. This will be my 4th time. I'd say yes.

Thank you. I'm still undecided especially if I have to pick it up in the winter. If I don't get it ordered until after December i'll probably do that. It's an hour and a half flight out of rdu so that makes the flying part easy I just don't want to drive back from there if it's snow or ice.
I would think it's going to be a wait for production to commence based on the fact that some of the test ZO6s (pre production) have not reached there drivers yet.
