What I would like to see in the Zora
Another Zora thread? It is not as though you have anything else to talk about. GM is not providing much information and magazine reviews are weeks out.
What I would like the Zora to be.
chassis and suspension:
made of aluminum CF tub would be nice but probably too expensive
fixed roof for weight savings. The rework of the chassis for the C8 should be targa/vert.
mid-engine rear
possibility for it to be lowered hydraulically like the Mclaren P1
unequal A arms or multilink if it is easier to keep the alignment when raised and lowered
I am fine with the leaf springs.
MRC
power train:
forced induction using the LT4( turbos might get more HP)
Hybrid AWD with KERS for all wheels, gas and electric for the rear wheels and electric only for front wheels.
Use of batteries and ultracapacitors. I don't know if KERS would be able to charge the ultracapacitors
fast enough, otherwise just go with batteries
manual or auto (preferably DCT) transmission available
aero:
adjustable aero for front splitter and rear wing like on the 911 turbo
good cooling for all systems.
electronics:
I would like to see the adjustable parameters to be set individually, maybe customizable modes.
price:
What do I care. I won't be able to afford it anyway.

Before I start putting a wish list together, I'd just like to see if they're REALLY going to make this car first.

Chevy will need to do something radical if it is going to be much faster than the Z06, perhaps AWD. Is adding more power worth introducing a new model?

I am beginning to wonder if the Z06 is going to be all we expected. No times coming from the Ring, no times coming from Milford. Considering how much we heard in the beginning, I was expecting it to be considerably faster than the C6. If it were only marginally faster and the track conditions weren't favorable, then you might end up with the embarrassment of a slower lap time, and that wouldn't do.
Maybe the Zora rumors have something to do with trying to divert attention.

CF chassis with Aluminum subframes
Hyrolic steering
High revving 7.0L supercharged engine

Lexan rear window
Non digital instrument cluster
Full CF body panels only if substantially lighter than current material.
Mid engine
DCT....I'd still get manual
Italian style gated shifter

what i don't want to see in a zora: infotainment garbage, 75 speakers, a removable roof, and a back-up camera. keep the good seats and bottom hinged throttle tho.
yep. if mid engined, not sure if AWD will be a requirement, but it'd probably be useful if one wants to put down power on the street with 'cold' tires.
i think the new Z will post better times on most tracks than did the ZR1 and C6 Z06Z07. regarding the ring times... i speculate that they sent the yellow one out to do the deed and it crashed out. i have high respect for mero and think they meant to post times, but the chance passed. not sure what temps are like there, but we may have to wait a year. i don't expect it to best a 918, but i do expect it'll better the ZR - which already puts up incredible numbers. the bar was already very high...

I am not sure making it mid engine rear alone would improve performance very much, and you won't be able to get 2 sets of clubs in it. It might make it drive better.
I don't think the Z06 needs to best the C6 ZR1 around most tracks to consider it a success. it's starting price is cheeper.

Safety Car
I hope it's nothing but a C7 Z06 Z07 with the following small changes:
No AFM
Lightweight lifters
7,000rpm redline
Cam in cam variable valve timing
12psi boost
No 7 speed gear and magnesium transmission case for low weight
No CAGS
No rev match
No push button ebrake, but a real man's brake
No hill assist
Plasma transferred wire arc cylinder sleeves for 7.5 liter displacement and larger combustion chamber (large valve diameters)
Mechanical clutch type LSD for light weight and no computer interference
DSSV dampers
3400lbs 850hp 800tq $125,000

Maybe because that's not going to happen anytime before a C8. 2020 would be my guess as to when the C8 comes out and I doubt they'd lead with a halo car named the Zora (if they ever did in the first place).

Asia, Europe and beyond you got 2 years to get your sh..t together as Detroit is about to nail your *** for the second time!
