Good point. Most of my vettes and camaro have had very dark tinted windows but we purchased all previous ones used and they were already tinted. It's either NOT illegal in Oklahoma or maybe just not generally enforced, as noones ever given me trouble over them.
Does anyone know if the windows come tented from the factory? I don't recall seeing anything about this in any id the literature, price lists, etc...
Depends on what you mean by tinted. Almost every car for the last 20 years or so has had at least some tint to the glass. If your talking dark tint, no. Mainly because there are different laws for every state and many localities.
All cars come with tinted window and have for many years. Many people think the factory tints are not dark enough and so they get their windows tinted further.
Tints are graded by darkness (20%, 35%, etc) and many states have passed laws making it illegal to tint windshields, and tint darker than a certain percentage, like 35%. Here is a page that claims to summarize these laws: http://tintlaws.com/
Window tinting is very popular with many fans in the forum. I live in the City of Saint Louis and I've been told by people who have learned from experience that tinted windows get you pulled over. I would guess that's only an issue in big cities, and probably northern big cities since tinting is especially popular in the southern states.
I've never tinted my windows but considered it on my Z06 vert. I decided against it, but only because it's a vert and I don't think it would look good if the top was down the the windows up.
As others mentioned, all windows do have some degree of "tint" from the factory.
If you mean, are they tinted like the rear of an SUV would be, no. The windows in the corvette look like every other car window out there, clear.
Most states have legalized window tinting to a certain percentage. Heck, in southern states, and dang near a necessity with as hot as it gets. Illinois finally joined the tinted window bandwagon last year, it is now legal here too. However, I've had (tastefully) tinted windows in every car I've ever owned, and even when it was illegal here, I rarely had an issue.
I don't worry about being pulled over, I worry about being able to register the car. Here in North Carolina an annual inspection is required in order to renew the registration, and one of the things inspected is the degree of window tint. If the photometer reads less than 35% you don't pass -- actually you get a couple points of grace, to 32%. And no windshield tint at all below the AS1 line.
All factory side/rear glass is tinted, just not very dark. If I had to guess, I'd say the Corvette is around 70% from the factory (meaning it transmits 70% of light, lower number = darker).
An optometrist or ophthalmologist can provide a waiver in most states, but you'd have to have a valid medical reason. Even then you'd probably be pulled over a few times a month and have to produce the waiver.

Same in MS, plus an additional yearly charge to pull out the photometer.
