Default Ordering & Delivery Question-Automatic.......

I saw a post where the guys that have been touring the plant in B.G. were told that we could order our "automatics" starting December 8th. It went onto say that it would be about 8 weeks for delivery. My question is Iam #1 allocation at my local dealer (who has 5 allocations) but I do NOT want to take delivery around the middle of Feb. The weather here at that date is absolutely Horrible. I wonder if I should tell the dealer to just hold back and place the order mid Jan. and then I would have a delivery around mid March which hopefully would be alot better regarding the nasty winters that we get here. Can this be done??? I will call him and get input but I have found the guys on this site are much more "knowledgeable" than most dealers. Sad but true.

Just tell him you'd like to take a later allocation. He'll just bump the next person up on the list. If the dealer actually has 5 allocations I find it hard to believe they have not get one for a Manual Z06 yet. My dealer has three allocations, and has had to use one on a 7-speed already.

Has your dealer had any of its allocations filled to date?
Bear in mind, I think the A8's are going to go fast. As we know, it seems like ~75-80% of buyers want it according to what we've heard from forum dealers.

From what I've heard there is very little chance ANYONE will be taking delivery of an A8 in February so you should leave you order as it is

It's entirely up to your dealer which order he places with which allocation, assuming constraints are followed. If you want to be later in the year, he can surely move someone else up to the front of the list.

Once the A8s are released for installation on the line, BG will probably be spending a long stretch of time fulfilling a backlog of the auto trans. orders.

i would not do that if i were you. each dealer has specific z06 allocations. if someone is bumped, someone else at end will likely lose out.

i am even concerned because i am 7 on a dealer's list the got 20 allocations. only 1 of the first 6 wanted a manual, so he had to go much further into his list of about 80 to fill the manual orders.

i am now sitting at 4 since some people b4 me changed to the manual. if you want to trade allocations, i would consider exchanging. mine is firm with Reliable chevy, a forum dealer, that i bought my c6 from.

i am taking museum delivery and driving to CA, so am somewhat concerned about winter delivery as well. at least the south most route from BG to socal is mostly free of bad weather by march.

If it is true the A8 ordering will begin in early-mid December, I see no reason why the first cars can't be delivered in February.

Exactly.
Which is why I would like to know the source of the claim that no A8's will be delivered before February. I expect the answer will be a non-answer.

I definitley don't want to lose out but I definitely don't want a Feb. delivery in a blizzard either. Like I said Iam #1 at my dealer who has 5 allocations so I guess I don't see how I could lose out. Not real crazy about how GM is doing this thing of 7 speeds first and automatics last.

I ordered one with the automatic a few weeks ago. My dealer called last week to say it will be built the week of December 8th. Any idea how long the wait is until it's at the dealer?

I would check back with your dealer. From what I have been told, Chevrolet is rejecting any Z06 order with the Automatic transmission (code M5U). I am #1 at my dealer and submitted my order during the first Z06 allocation release in September. Chevrolet rejected the order. We submitted again yesterday. Chevrolet rejected the order again. The District Manager told me that Chevrolet is not accepting any M5U orders yet for the Z06.

Orders will be accepted 12/8...not built for the A8.

that makes a lot of sense. ACCEPTED on 12/8 - not built. I agree with that logic.

When you say order accepted does that mean order placed like my order on the GM tracking site shows?

Not sure of your question. From what I understand, I can PLACE the order with the Factory on 12/8. Which means the car will be built Feb/Mar, in theory. That is assuming that the A8 is released for order by then.

It won't even show up on GM's order tracking page until it's actually been accepted by GM. A8 orders are not being accepted since the A8 is still on 100% constraint. The dealer can claim to submit the order, but it will be rejected and not "in the system", so to speak.

I have an order workbench page that says 1100 Preliminary Order Accepted. It also shows that on the tracking site. Ken Fichtner placed the order on 9/16/14 and he emailed me the page the same day.

I was told that once GM actually "accepts" the order you should have your car within 10 to 12 weeks.
