Default Suede question...

Looking to get the Competition seats with the suede/microfiber in the middle of the seats but not on the steering wheel and a-pillars, I've seen cars like this but my dealer is telling me it is not available to order this way and the only way to have the suede in the seats is to get the whole package including the steering wheels, a-pillars, etc... any help would be much appriciated

You need to order a 2LZ to keep from getting the suede uppers and A-pillars. The 3LZ comes with it. Not sure about the steering wheel?

If worse comes to worse, if you can't order without, I'll gladly swap you the standard a-pillars for the suede ones :-) because they told me I couldn't order them separate of the 3LZ even though it's shown as an option.

I will be glad to swap you the a-pillars and upper suede. We can discuss how much you'd want difference.

I'm wanting the suede - I'm getting the 2LZ instead but thought I was going to be able to order the suede as an add-on, but the order system wouldn't let the dealer enter it. The big glitch will be that I have the convertible, so the upper I think is different than the coupe? Do the visors come in suede too? I can't remember?

Right -- order 2LZ with competition seats/microfiber and you'll get the steering wheel and shifter with microfiber.

Since I ordered red interior I can't get my suede wheel. I'll happily trade my non-suede wheel with you. PM if you're interested.

Best,
Gene

Your dealer is partly correct. If you check the order guide yourself (available in the C7 forum stickies) the suede-wrapped wheel and shifter is part and parcel of the sueded seat insert option. They come with one another. There is no option to get one without the other.

Sueded A-pillars are a different option altogether. They come with the 3LZ package and are entirely unrelated to the seat options.

Ok but on the order form it reads as follows

1L*- Microfiber sueded seat inserts n/a 1lz-$395
AE4-Competition seating-$1995
AE4-Competition seating w/suede insert-$2495
IWE-Upper suede trim/a/b pillar/qtr windows-$995

All i'm looking for is the seat inserts in suede/microfiber

God this is so confusing and all i get is different answers from everyone including my dealer

Dude, get the Order Guide. What you posted here is not an order form. It is an old, out-of-date, incorrect, erroneous price list. There is no separate option to order 1L* or IWE.

AE4 is Competition Seats. When you choose the color -- let's say black -- you enter either 192, 194, or 196 (depending on whether it is 1LZ, 2LZ, or 3LZ) into Workbench to get suede inserts. Entering 191, 193, or 195 gets you leather inserts. See page 89 of the Order Guide. Once you choose the suede inserts the AE4 price rises from $1995 to $2495 and option N26 (suede steering wheel and shifter) is automatically included.

So just specify AE4 and tell the dealer what color you want - gray, black, or Kalahari.

IWE is not separately orderable so forget it. It is included in the 3LZ trim package at no extra charge. It does not cost $995, that is leftover from 2014 Stingray pricing.

Just trying to help. It sounds like your dealer is not very knowledgable. My advice is to arm yourself with the knowledge the dealer doesn't have, and the best way to do that is to download and read the internal Order Guide. I think that's how most of us constructed our orders when we knew more than our dealers did.

If all you want is AE4 with sueded inserts, you merely need to pick the color code appropriate to the trim level. Like I said, see the chart on page 89 of the guide and it will be clear.

So lets say I go for the 3lz instead... Does the microfiber/suede come standard or is it optional?

Suede on the headliner, pillars, visors, and around the quarter windows, rear window, etc. is standard at the 3LZ trim level. That is the only way you can get suede in these areas. This suede is always black in color regardless of the seat color.

Suede on the seats is not part of the trim level, it is a separate option. However, at the 1LZ trim level the only suede color choice is black. At the 2LZ and 3LZ levels the suede color choices are dark gray, kalahari, and black. (There is no suede seat option in red or blue, as GM was unable to get suede to match those colors.)

If you do not want the suede around the tops of your car, order the 2LZ and the Competition Seats with the suede inserts.

Yes. Tell your dealer you want AE4 (Competition Seats) and color code 194 (black with suede inserts). A black suede-covered steering wheel and shifter is part of the package when you order AE4 with suede.

This adds $2,495 to the price of your car.
