Just wondering why GM didn't make the C7 Z06 look more like the C7R...

Granted the new Z06 looks good, but the C7R looks plain intoxicating, absolutely spectacular, even the rear tail lights seem fine on it...

Anyone with insight to this at all?

Just curious.

In what way? More decals? I think they look amazingly similar. The main visual difference is that the C7R is wider than a Z06, but at 80.7" it is way too wide for a street car. (The C7R is slightly wider than a Cadillac Escalade, which is plenty big enough.)

The wider front fenders look great on the C7.R. I agree that would have been much better than the tack on look of the spats.

Cost. They only build like 20 C7R bodies, so they don't have to factor in the cost of tooling for a new front bumper. They're going to build thousands of C7Zs, so they cut costs by using the base car's front bumper and adding the spats to cover the wider tires.

Its pretty simple. If there ends up being a model more powerful than the Z06 they have to leave something on the table.

While the C7R looks good in photos it looks way too wide in person. Looks almost cartoonish like a bad kit cat. That's a fine look for a racecar but not a streetcar. In person I think the Z looks far and away better than the C7R.

Best,
Gene

Thanks for the input guys, i should have been more specific, (late night) i was mainly talking about the front nose and the spats, they look cheap, and because of this the nose looks way better on the C7R.
I now know due to the width of the C7R as to why even the rear looks better also, i have yet to see the new Z in person, and have been told they do look sweet, so hopefully soon.... then i will have to decide which colour!
