All American review Z06
Well,
What a day yesterday. Went from sitting at my desk in the am wondering if I could even get my car due to the invoicing issue. I have to leave today for Switzerland and really just wanted to get the car home in the garage. Rick Conti made it all happen.
More on Rick:
Rick Conti at Coughlin Auto should be working for team corvette. This man is a true ambassador of the car we all love so dear. I first started dealing with Rick last year when I ordered my C7 z51. Rick made the whole process easy.
The car:
Wow. Started off pulling out of the parking lot. Forgot how easy these corvettes are to drive. I sold my C7 back last year and have a good collection of other cars. I mostly have been driving my Viper here lately. That car is a pig compared to this car. If one were to tell me to drive the Vette to California I would happily take off. If one were to tell me to drive the Viper 60 miles to Atlanta I would say hell no. The corvette in touring mode or hell even track mode is smoother and easier to drive than the Viper. The cabin in the Vette is very quite even used the speaker phone quite a bit on my 530 mile journey how. No way would you attempt that in the Viper.
Overall this car is a excellent choice for a person looking for a car they could daily drive and track on the weekends. I am totally impressed with GM on this build it is by far there best yet. After this being my 14th vette I can say I have tried them all.
When I get back in a couple of weeks hope to make a comparison video and a few races with the Viper. I cant wait to get to sebring this coming Jan. to see what this car is really capable of.
thanks guys

Great review... I've been on the fence b/w the Viper and Z06.
Wondering if the "lag" b/w 135-160 mph has to do with gearing. ??? Just seems strange.
Thanks for the review on Mr. Conti. It's great when our online community can work together. I'm in N. Texas, so it would be a bit of a trek, but I drove 500 miles to get my '02Z when I bought it new... I'm sure I could make the drive from OH back home. This time of year isn't the best, however. Glad you missed the nasty weather.
Anyway, looking forward to more reviews from you when you get back to the states.

Thanks for the review. That red is the color I seem to always wind up with. I think about gray and yellow and still wind up with red. ha. It is nice to have someone open the car up a little and report in. Good for you sir.

Racer
First Drive 2015 ZO6
Saw 182 mph on interstate, really, no brake in period, like 500 miles? No respect for the car and reckless behavior in a first time driven vehicle on a public highway, i salute you, you did drive it like you stole it. teddie

Drifting
Props on the New Z and seeing 182mph on your first outing. I'm with you on the ceramic brakes too. Just don't see their benefit when compared to maintenance cost on a primarily street car.

While cruising down I75 I did have a chance of a nice piece of open road. Was able to lay down on the vette pretty good. I will say the reviews are right about the lag in between 135 mph to 160 mph. Once over 160 mph however the car did seem to be pulling harder than it was in the 135 mph and 160 mph window. Was able to see 182 mph. The car was well balanced and stable at those speeds. Did have a little to much wind noise coming inside from the window seals while at high speed.
Overall this car is a excellent choice for a person looking for a car they could daily drive and track on the weekends. I am totally impressed with GM on this build it is by far there best yet. After this being my 14th vette I can say I have tried them all.

At 135 you are at 4775 RPM at ~570 HP.
At 160 you are at 5650 RPM at ~62530 Hp.
At 182 you are at 6430 RPM at ~650 HP.
With the supercharged LT4, the horsepower keeps climbing sharply to redline(6500 RPM) unlike the LT1 NA engine that starts to flatten off above 5000 RPM and starts to fall off around 6,000 RPM.
From 135 to 160 you are starting at 570 HP up to 630 HP at 160.
From 160 to 182, you are starting at 625 HP up to 650 HP at 182.
The greater horsepower might be why the car pulls stronger above 160 than from 135.
