Default Drive or flatbed??

So it finally worked out and I'm picking up my car in a few hours however yesterday it snowed a bit and the roads have been salted pretty good. Would you drive it home 2 hours or pay 350 for delivery?

Flat bed, especially if it's a Z07

If the roads are wet, I would have it delivered. If they're dry, I'd drive it.

BTW - Congrats!

My concern is that even if the roads are dry, I'd worry about chunks of salt flying onto the car, from other cars and trucks. They can cause damage to the paint sometimes just like rocks. I have lived in Chicago for a while; I know.

Definitely flat bed. Even if the roads are dry, the salt residue is still on the road surface. They crap will crawl into ever nook and cranny under the car. At least, when I lived in Buffalo, NY, that's a fact of life in these winter months.

On this very subject, could anyone tell me the exact width of a Z06/Z07 with the areo pkg installed. Need to make sure it fits into the trailer.

Thanks!

Rear tires outside-to-outside is almost 78 inches. It should fit into the trailer, but the door will not open unless the trailer has a raised floor. Your option would be to pull it in the trailer with the top off to make climbing out of the car easier.

I found these dimensions of the Z06 online:
Length -- 177.90
Width -- 77.40

Would love to do that, but I don't have the car yet. Let me know the next time you have a Cars & Coffee.

We are driving up to Bowling Green this weekend and have Museum Delivery on Monday. Hope to have it home Tuesday night. A friend of a friend loaned me an enclosed trailer, so we are going to trailer it back.

Almost there, you're going to enjoy it! Btw, your VIN and mine are quite close... built the same day relatively near each other on the aseembly line.

What trim and aero pkg is your LB/Kalahari Z?

I remember you telling me about the trailer. Well, The trailer deal I was originally promised fell through. I went ahead and reserved a U-Haul open trailer and truck in BG, and we flew out Monday morning. Picked the car up and went to U-Haul, to find out that the trailer rails have side lips with only 79 inches in between, with the car almost 78 inches outside-to-outside of the tires, not to mention ramp clearance, etc... Not wanting to risk wheel or even tire scratching/damage, I canceled the U-Haul and we drove it back.

Roads are dry and not seing any chunks of salt. My only concern is the dust on the under body. Maybe I'll hit it with a hose before it sleeps for ur winter

Stingray,

I saw your car on the line during the Buyer's Tour. Love the SG with the red. It's a fantastic combination.

My LB/Kalahari is 3LZ and I went with Stage 1. I was concerned about the Stage 2/3 splitter getting damaged, so I went with the base. I'm seriously considering adding the side skirts to protect the sides of the car.

We've measured the trailer three times. Hopefully, it will fit.

Glad you are home safely and enjoying the car!!

The dust should be fine.
