Tyson's VA Dealer asking $145K!!!
Let me say I don't usually post. Have a vette and had some great cars over the years (currently have a 300 srt8 and a 2013 mercedes cl) and just come here to get some good tech info, read interesting stories, and see pics of great vettes! BUT, I had to just say something about my experience last night. (Not sure if I'm breaking any rules here by naming the dealer, but if so, Mods, please edit my post)
Me and a buddy were out doing some shopping last night and I stopped by Koon's Chevy Tyson's just to see if they had one...I figured they'd be closed so just pulled up and looked in the window. Sure enough they had a white one, black wheels, looked to have the Z07 package (but I didn't see the clear adjustable middle area on the back spoiler, so I was unsure) - in any event, it looked great. A guy with his son pulled up (while me and friend were looking in the window) and the son ran in the showroom and starting taking pics (it was about 9:45 pm - 10 pm and no one was around). We were like "it's open?, let's go take a look up close". We went in and it was me and my buddy, the guy and his son, and then a salesman popped up around the corner. He said they were closed, but we could take a look - cool. It's looks great in person. Was sitting next to a z51 and I was impressed the fit and finish and size in comparison. Seriously considering getting one now
Then it happened. The father then asked the price and the salesman said "$145K" I said what??? Well, I told him that's a pretty significant markup you guys have on it. And he proceeded to tell me, it was MSRP on that car - kind of smugly. I said "what" again, and I almost lost it "MSRP?". I said with everything the most this car can get to is $105K to $110K (at MSRP) and you obviously, have a pretty significant markup on it. He proceeded to argue with me and said nope, that's MSRP, I couldn't believe it (am I missing something?). So we went back and forth a bit... and then, after a minute he mumbled, it's because of allocation. I told him, I'm not going to argue with him and can't continue to engage in this, just stopped in to look at it - but you can't just tell me anything because I know cars, and that he needed to get his story straight (either its MSRP, or a market adjustment for allocation on top of the MSRP, can't be both). Normally, I wouldn't engage guys like this, but I couldn't be silent with the guy and his son there - I hope he goes and does research on actual pricing if he considers ordering or buying one.
Hey, they can sell the car for $500K if they find a buyer to pay that, but don't position it like that's the price of the car from the manufacturer - totally dishonest IMO, that's what rubbed me the wrong way. And, exactly, what goes counter to appeal of the car - a supercar, under or at $100K. Maybe it's me.
My rant for the day, thanks for listening. That is all

Another idiot dealer. Definitely 35 to 40K market adjustment on the car. It would be interesting to know what they wanted for the Z51 sitting next to it.
If you get serious about getting another vette, check one of the forum dealers. You'll normally get your best price and definitely best selection from them.

"Market adjustment" sounds to respectable a term. Should be something like "I got it, you want it adjustment".

The dealer where I bought my 2015 Z51 has 11 on order and a few to members of my Corvette club at MSRP with no price adjustments.
I bought my car last summer for a nice discount which at that time was not heard of.
The owner tells me that price gouging is not his style.

I got a different price but does anyone know what MSRP is on this? I requested sticker and I got this. Almost makes it look like they also have a bunch of dealer "addons" to inflate the MSRP also.

The best thing to do is just avoid any dealership with the Koons name on it. They're just... bad.

I understand what the market adjustment is. My question is why not put the MSRP rather put "dealer-added equipment and services" where the MSRP would be? I assume they jacked up the MSRP in some way w/ some BS add-ons which is why I was asking what MSRP would be. $600 processing fee from them also.

So what happens with insurance if you pay 145k for the car? I doubt that they would give more than the MSRP replacement value. I assume this would happen with any mark up.

I have a philosophy when it comes to this kind of crap. I respect the dealers right to charge anything they want for their product...seriously, whatever they can get, great. HOWEVER, I will NEVER step foot in your dealership again and will tell others to avoid you.
Believe it or not, at one time my "dream" car was a 1991 Eagle Talon TSI-AWD. The local dealer was charging $5,000 over sticker...seriously. I never stepped foot in that dealer again and never will. I bought a 1993 about a year later at invoice. ps, that was one of the BEST cars I ever owned.

market adjustments..
didnt someone post about a month ago, found a BMW i8, car has a msrp around 150k i think, adjustment on top of that was 500K.....
while its insulting, sometimes i think dealers do it to keep cars on the floor that gets attention. they dont care if it sells quick and if someone is willing to pay the adjustment, they are willing to give up the advertisement element of having a special vehicle on the floor.

The only point that I can see of this post is that we should all avoid that dealer at all costs.

Dealer mark-up
It is illegal by Federal Law to not have a Marony displayed on a new
Vehicle at point of sale. Must be provided by manufacturer and show
the MSRP of that specific vehicle. Failure to do so subjects the dealer
To both fines and possible imprisonment.

I know you all realize in a year or two there will be at least a $10,000.00 discount off MSRP for this car. Maybe more...

I'm with you. I've run into dealerships that tack on a market adjustment price to their cars - as soon as I see it I'm out the door.

I'm the same way, if I see a dealer with their "market adjustment" markups and trying to gouge the pricing, I would never do business with them and tell everyone I knew to stay away. It's too bad they don't realize they lose business doing that. Now being a business owner myself they are free to sell at whatever price.
You think that markup is bad. McLaren P1s are going for almost $500k above sticker if you can find anyone selling one.

I think that sales people should be Vette specialist, The guy in the stained up used car suit should not be allowed to sell the new c7 and zo6, as wel as the new z/28. Most of these guys know nothing about the car.... Go to a BMW or Benz dealership you will see the difference between, Its almost a joke...I had to hunt mine down the first 2 weeks of production, I had a d bag tell me They don't talk on phone and Wanted me to drive down 4 hrs away.....No one that sells a CRUZE should be allowed to sell a new zo6, They know nothing about the car, Find a fourm dealer or go to a bigger city. I personally like the pen that I got when we picked up our last GL 450, The dealer was dressed in a nice sute, not like the guy at my local dealership I think he shops at goodwill........
