I'm guessing that somewhere in the vicinity of 2,000 Z06's have been built so far, so that should give us a good indication as to whether ALL Z07's have Bowling Green built engines.
All Z07 engines are hand built in BG.

Okay...I have to ask. What's so special about the Z07 engine vs. a standard Z06 LT4? Seems kind of cost inneficient to build the same exact motor in two different plants. What gives?

Personally, I thought it was a nice touch by GM to Hand Build the ZO7 motors using the Performance Build Center at Bowling Green for the ZO6 customers who payed the premium of at least $10,990.00 for ZO7 package + CFZ OR $11,990.00 for ZO7 package + CFV......

Remember that GM's former "top of the line" performance ZR1 motors were all Hand Build.

You could have also had your ZO6 motor hand built at Bowling Green Performance Build Center if you elected the The Corvette Z06 Engine Build Experience which is priced at $5,000.00 have your dealer submit RPO code PBC as part of your Corvette Z06 order.

If I remember correctly weren't ALL LS7 and LS9 motors hand built at BG? I know my LS7 was...built by Don Henley. Talked to him at SEMA about it. Just seems kind of superficial to pimp folks for those kinds of dollars for a fake elite status that amounts to nothing...as far as the motor is concerned. Again, talking the miyor inly here. Don't get me wrong, the Z07 is awesome but at the end of the day the only difference in the motor is the building it was built in. I guess those just aren't the kinds if bragging rights I'm not looking for. LOL

I think the build process is different between the two locations. In Tonawanda they are more of an assembly line process whereas in BG it's built by one person and they put their name tag on it.

Does that make either one better? No but it's cool to have a single builder with their name on it.

Personally, I think it adds a bit to the Z07 package that gives the Z07 a little more exclusivity. It's possible later in the years the car will have more appeal having the Z07 package AND the handbuilt motor... built in BG.

Not sure what you mean by pimp folks for dollars.

No, actually the LS7 and LS9 were hand built at the former Wixom Performance Center and not at the Bowling Green Performance Center....

So are you saying that if you buy the Z07 package + CFZ or CFV but pay $91,000.00 you wouldn't get the hand built one in B.G.?

I thought all Z07 packages got the hand built motors?

I talked to my Z07 engine builder when I did the NCM Buyer's Tour. He said the Tonawanda plant is semi-hand built. It is not an assembly line but several people are involved on a small line in a work area.

I was just asking about this matter. I received some good feedback that I'm going to consider. I have a Z07 ordered, I might see if I can change it up if I can. Save some $.

I saw you other post. If you are trying to save some $ then I would drop the Z07 option and add the PDR.

Sorry, we don't have a Debra at the Performance Build Center (PBC) in Bowling Green. Did you read the name tag right? We have a Daniel, a Durek, and a Bob but no Debra.

You're close. ALL LS7's & LS9's & dry sump LS3's were build in Wixom, Michigan. GM moved the PBC to Bowling Green in Nov. of 2013 when they closed Wixom.
As for why hand assembly verses production line. We have to time that production line doesn't to identify vendor issues, machining issues and to do production changes while in a slower build process to try new components and report back to engineering as to real time fit and function of new components and vendor changes. We also have the time that if something comes up, we report to Tonawanda so they can work back the line to make sure they don't have the same issues. We are more then a Z07 hand built engine facility. We assist GM engineering to assure that when parts are released to Tonawanda and us for production, they are right.
