Default Tach Question

Hi Guys.

In the attached picture you can see my tach has the yellow marks stating at 3500RPM and get Orange/Red from 4500 up. I thought this was just due to the engine being cold (my previous BMW M cars did this) but even once the engine reaches temp the markings are the same.

Anyone know why this is?

I was told that was pre-break in.

Someone posted recently on here that the C7 Stingray has that as well until you reach 500 miles. The video of the C7 shows it actually hitting the 500 mile mark, and the colors going away and moving to the appropriate redline.

On the C7 when the engine is cold the redline will be low, and slowly move up as the car heats up to operating temp.

As mentioned there is a lower redline shown through the break in period, once 500 miles is hit the tach will read normal.

This is for the 1st 500 miles and the it a adjusts to the normal 6500rpm red line. You will also see this when the car is cold.
