I thought that the fasteners that hold the plate bracket to the grille were the same for the base car and the Z06, so it should be easily removable.

If you do not want to have to remove the plate from the bracket to take the bracket off, just drill a couple of small holes in the plate for a screwdriver to pass through. Then you can remove the plate and bracket at a unit. That is what I did.
