Default Driving Mode

Hey owners, I'm curious to know what driving mode you are running around in. I'm in Sport all the time.

I keep mine in sport most of the time but is there an exhaust note difference between sport and track?

How can you change the settings of each mode? I'd love to set them all to track and eco or weather to stealth.

Track seems like it's open more often than Sport. For example on startup the bark it makes in track is awesome.

I keep the steering and sound in track at all times and usually drive in track but will switch to sport or tour if the ground is horrible. Weather in the weather.

Does changing these modes allow for more slip angle with active handling?

Best,
Gene

80% track
20% touring
Steering always in track.

I only switched to touring after driving 1,200 miles in a couple of days. The exhaust drones too much in 7th in track mode but sounds great otherwise. I also do touring for the last minute to keep the neighbors happy.

Track is definitely my weapon of choice.

Oh, we should also mention Z07 pack if so equipped. Mine is a Z07.

Non z07 here, and I've been running in track mostly. I've had it for two weeks and only put about 300 miles on it - so when I drive it I like the feel and sound of track.

I need to figure out how to have the car start in track mode, or at least track mode exhaust (if possible).

Section 9-18 of the owners manual (new vehicle break in) does not stipulate keeping it in a certain driving mode. You'll be fine going in track mode kind sir/ma'am!

Sounds like it, just refer to the section I stated prior and you'll be more knowledgeable than your salesperson. Cheers, sir! Haha

I'm past 1,500 miles.

Until 500 miles I avoided:
  • Going over the break-in redline
  • full throttle
  • spirited driving
  • lugging the engine
  • driving at a constant speed
  • driving in V4 mode

In application, this meant gears 3,4,5 on the freeway varying speed between 60 mph and 70 mph.

From 500 miles to 1,500 miles I avoided:
  • Launching the car
  • Race tracks
  • driving in V4 mode

Why did you avoid driving in V4 mode? Assuming you mean track mode? Manual doesn't reference that, unless I've missed it.

V4 is 4-cylinder mode, also known as active fuel management (AFM).

Here is a killer video of how it works:

I don't see how you are properly breaking in those 4 cylinders that are shut off with V4. The valves themselves are not even moving. The pistons may be moving but I'm not sure what kind of stress the cylinder liner and piston rings are seeing when there is no combustion in the chamber. V4 in general strikes me as a bad idea, not only in terms of how the off cylinders wear but also in terms of deposits and vibrations/harmonics.

Ah, I see what you mean. I actually agree with you. Been keeping it out of that mode even though the manual doesn't stipulate it.
