I got the 3LZ pkg and was thinking of giving the interior a leather treatment (Adams Leather Conditioner.) Just want to make sure it is real leather first. Or is it one of those imitation leathers? Anyone know?
You have real leather on the seating parts but not the side panels. Also remember that the leather is plastic coated. Don't waste your money on expensive leather conditioners because it will never get to the pores in the leather because of the coating.
Usually it's a very, very thin layer of polyurethane or equivalent. Think of it as a leather surface equivalent of clear coat that's on your exterior paint. Very common on all American and Japanese cars the past couple of decades. I believe that the Euros do likewise, but not certain.
Almost all automotive leather is treated with a coating to protect it in its normal usage. Use products recommended in the owner's manual. Products made for non coated leather will not do any good and could actually harm the leather. There is plenty of information on the net just do a search on cleaning vinyl coated leather. You will quickly see that all the auto companies use it.

Just purchased 1Z Einszett leather cleaner/conditioner as it is made for these new coated leathers after reading about this issue in the C7 forum. I never realized these new leathers were coated and just figured they were using a cheaper grade of leather. Autogeek is always a good source of info for automotive detail products.
