Default Small issue closing door ...

Two days in since I picked her up and I'm having a small issue ... the only one in an otherwise flawless vehicle.

The passenger door closes normally but my driver door has to be slammed shut in order for the latch to catch all the way. In fact when i step out I have to slam it so hard to close it all the way that the shock sensor chirps.

Not sure if this is related but there's no possible way I can close the rear hatch unless one of the doors is open to allow enough air to escape.

The hatch I don't really mind, but I mention it in case all of this is related to an air pressure issue ... although the fact that my passenger door closes without problem would seem to discount this.

My driver's side window does open slightly do allow the door to close so I don't think that's it either ... but maybe it's not opening enough and needs to be adjusted?

Before I have the dealer check it out I was just wondering if anyone else is having this issue, either with one of their doors or their rear hatch?

Wifeys Stingray Vert was doing the same thing. Few hard slams and it fixed itself. Or if you are not into BDSM you can take it to the dealer

You shouldn't have to close the drivers door any harder than the passenger door. On my C7 the door closes and latches with normal effort.
As far as the hatch just get used to it, that's the way it is, I always just open the drivers door and the hatch closes easily if you just give it a little assistance from the full upward position. I would have the door looked at.

On my 15' Z51 I had that issue but with the passenger door.
For the first month or so the pass. door always need to be reopened and slammed to close. At about 3 months it was "normal" and closed fine 99% of the time.

I'd guess there's a adjustment that could be done but it worked itself out.

Okay so this is what I'm getting:

1. The hatch issue is normal
2. The door issue is common but not normal ... I could take it to the dealer or it might sort itself out with repeated use.

Maybe what I'll do is see if it fixes itself with use until my 500 mile oil change ... if it hasn't I'll have the dealer sort it out.

Thanks for the feedback.

I think the hatch issue might work itself out with time. My Stingray's valve started to work consistently after a couple of months and made the hatch closure much easier. The Z06 only closes maybe once every half-dozen attempts, but I'm hopeful it will improve too. The door thing doesn't sound normal to me.

My door took about two weeks to consistently close easily. I can't remember if my stingray was the same way or not. I assume it is a new seals thing.

Try putting the window down a Crack so your not fighting pressure inside the car. See if that helps any.

Try closing it with the passenger door or hatch open. This will confirm or eliminate the pressure question.

Okay so I'm confirming it is 100% an air pressure issue for me. I opened the trunk lid and the door closes easy and tight ... I'm relieved that it doesn't seem to be a build quality issue. I also opened and closed it about 30 times and it is getting better.

I wonder if there's an adjustment the dealer can make as to how much the window cracks open when the door opens so as to let more air flow. The pass side doesn't do it so it's obviously set at the proper height.

I just picked up my Z06 today and noticed the same thing and I believe it's an air pressure issue as well. I thought the C7 had a air pressure relief valve under the rear hatch that was supposed to eliminate this issue. I'll have to get my book out again.

This is how it is supposed to work.

My convertible is tight as well even though the windows index down a bit when you open the doors to clear the top.

Mind use to have the same issue on the drivers side. However, it seems to have gone away and is no longer an issue. Not sure why, I didn't change anything ..

100% guarantee its an air pressure issue. The C7's are built tight & have a fiberglass door that is lighter than most steel doors. Keep you hand on the door when closing it & when your a foot from it being closed add a little push without removing your hand from the door. It will close every time. The glass will recess about a quarter of an inch when the door is open to help seal it against the door frame modeling which helps to prevent wind noise. I am not sure if the dealer has more adjustments on the recess window feature. If GM designed it to go down by 1 inch I think that would have helped. See if that helps any.

I have the exact same problem, and my dealer told me it was air pressure as well. Close either door or trunk while the other two are closed and you have to slam it. If either of the others are open, then it will close easily. I also noticed that when I close the door with my window down, it closes nice and easy.

The dealer told me that they could make an adjustment, but didnt say if that was to the door itself or the window....he suggested to see if it gets better on its own in 500 miles first.
