Default Fasterproms Z06 Tune/Flex Fuel only results!

We finally took delivery of our Z06 right before Christmas. It was completely unexpected. The car was still in "pre-production status" so it was a shock when the dealership called to say it was there! Big thank you to Stingray Chevrolet in Bartow Florida for getting us the car!

We headed straight to the dyno right after we bought it. Baseline numbers were quite a bit higher than expected. After a quick cool down with 56 miles on the car it made 603rwhp/605rwtq in SAE on our local dynojet 224x.

As of now, Jeremy has tuned the car, installed a flex fuel sensor and cut open the air box. The car was dynoed with a 50% E85 mixture. I believe it was 81-84 degrees that day and pretty hot inside the dyno. The night before in 65 degree air the car made 2lbs more boost in the cooler weather so there is more power there, it is just to hot down here!

Final numbers after the tune 635rwhp 623rwtq. We are currently working on a few modifications that have been proven to be extremely effective on the LSA blower that greatly diminish and virtually eliminate heat soak. Stay tuned!

Wow, this does seem a bit high....do you have any C6Z LS7 or C6ZR1's on this same dyno for comparative purposes?

Yes, I had one of my stock c6 zo6's make 435whp on that exact dyno with Jeremy doing the pulls. My zr1 has also been on this dyno stock and made 540whp. The dyno is spot on IMO. Great job Fasterproms!

Awesome, nice to know that it will not be "unexpected" to see these cars dyno at 600 RWHP bone stock! Another good reason to do a "proper" dyno break-in procedure for these cars!

Jeremy did a 20-150mph pull in his zo6 with 3 miles on it...

You pulled 603 and LGMotorsports pulled 558. No way that the LT4's are seeing a 50bhp delta coming out of the factory. They are much more consistent, engine to engine, than that.

There are a lot of variables that will cause the power difference in all cars. The dyno, altitude, temperature outside, vehicle temperature. Wheels, brakes and tires also play a difference in stock numbers. There is no reason for us to fib on the base line. We could have claimed lower numbers and "gained" a lot more from just tuning.

As with most cars that GM produces you will see them all over the place. It happens all of the time. We have been measuring the temperature on top of the blower and it has been 140-190 degrees. The rule of thumb is a 1% power loss for every 10 degrees it goes up.

JJ, I thought the were no heat soak problems, just a very conservative ECU from GM?

I just hope that the people reading this post realize that the bhp of the engines coming out of the factory do not vary that much(50 bhp delta); but the chassis dyno etc pulls do.

I see too many people on this forum that look at the rwhp number and then try and back into the bhp using 15%(or whatever)driveline loss to obtain some fictional horsepower at the crank.

The 650 bhp is SAE certified. The 558 or 570 or 585 or 603 rwhp that are showing up from chassis dynos are not SAE certified.

In fact, I've seen chassis dyno pulls on the same car have a 23 rwhp variance on back to back pulls, with no alterations done to the car.

That's promising results. A side benefit is the engine (and SC) will run cooler with E85.
