I just had a car shipped from Toronto. The driver covered the car with plastic and also brought the extra exhaust for me. I gave him $150 as a thank you.
If it showed up covered in dirt and scratched I would have given zero so like anything else it depends on the level of service.
I was clearly confusing the initial delivery to the dealer from bowling green with having someone ship your car via a private carrier. If I was having car shipped I'd tip 20% of the cost so depending how far across the country a few hundred dollars.
The drivers making deliveries to the dealer I'd say many buyers aren't there for that as dealer may not call you until it's already unloaded. I happened to be there when it arrived and found the guy to be helpful so I have him 20 bucks some here Think that insulting or cheap of me but I've been a commercial contractor for over 15 yrs can't say I was ever tipped or would ever imagined someone doing so.

I think people didn't read your initial post properly. They think you tipped someone who delivered a car to your house $20. Not the dealer. You're all good
*Edit: the poster above you tipped the guy $20 when he got it delivered from dealer to house, so maybe those were directed to him. But if he's a regular dealer-trade driver, they don't need a huge tip. Rarely get one at all.
If there is something unusual about what they did for you, versus everyone else, tip them for it. A special accommodation, an unusual physical location that made it more difficult or prolonged their day (what should have taken 20 minutes took an hour)etc.
If it's a standard commercial delivery like any other, I don't think it's necessary.
