Default Z06 engine build experience

http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...for-z06-buyers

Sounds like a lot of money for 1 day and doesn't include the museum delivery

Maye bearman can chime in here, but it sounds like reasonable price for a terrific experience for an enthusiast.

Hey Carybob,
Myself, John, Tyrone & Rob have been working together on the customer build line now for a couple months getting it ready for the new Z06 owners to come in and experience building their own engine. The NCM is handling all the logistics, I.E. date, time, breakfast, lunch, photographer...
What's neat is that from total novice to gearhead, we are ready to guide you in building your engine. You can build the whole thing or just a few parts, what ever you are comfortable doing. The build will be at a easy pace and we are ready to answer any and all questions about the engine, individual components and what does what and why.
I know all the builders, as am I, are excited to get this program up and running and we look forward to being a part of your engine build experience.

Since you are part of the build process for your engine, do you get to put a tag on the engine with your name as well ? Just curious.

You got it! The owners name will be on the name plate that goes on the engine. Here's another tidbit that I just found out today. Up till now, only Z07 optioned Z's had a bowling Green engine & all other Z06 engines were built in Tonawanda. Starting with the Build Your Own program, both Z06 AND Z07 optioned Z engines will be built in the program. So, you will not need to option the Z07 package to build your own in Bowling Green. Have your dealer check the PBC option on the order form when you spec out your new Z.

Barry - I will definitely be doing it for the "Zora" when the time comes. Thanks again for all that you did for us

I would like to do this. However in Canada we are not able to choose Museum delivery or the Engine Build program on our orders. Does anybody know why ?

Canadians have never had the museum delivery as the customs and border present a complexity but the engine build was available for Canadians for C6 Z06/ZR1. I believe it was $5800. The factory tour while your car is built and photo album is available to Canadians as it is organized by the museum and booked through the museum. I don't know the Canadian price for the engine build and am not sure it is specified in the Canadian VOG yet. I do hope we can order as it sounds like a great experience.

Thanks for the information. I do agree it would be great to build your own engine.

Check with your local Chevy dealer and see if they have the "PBC" option on their order sheet. That will let you know if it is available to you.

Here is a link to a site that explains the Build Your Own program. Most of the info is from the press release. One thing that is incorrect is that he says to bring something to eat. Gourmet breakfast & lunch are included. Don't forget to invite your builder to lunch...

Every engine we help the customer build is special plus, your name goes on it. Sorry, we cannot substitute components from the normal build process. You'll have to install the special parts after you get your Z home.
