Saw this beast at the CES show today. Exceptional paint, fit and finish. Orange peel was at a minimum...completely negligible. Granted, it's a show car and may have received some special attention, but if mine shows up looking like this one, I'll be quite happy.

Had a big local auto show today with all the new cars etc. I was looking at the new Colorado and really noticed it had good flat paint with minimal OP. Some of them come out great, some not so much.
For what its worth, whatever orange peel was on my car (which was very little) totally disappeared after polishing. Orange peel is usually a function of clearcoat rather than paint.

Cool! I work at the Colorado (Wentzville Assembly) plant. We've been working really hard to build it right.

Well....as optimistic as I was a couple of weeks ago, I just saw a new Z06 at local Chevy dealer. The picture below speaks for itself, but it's hardly encouraging for the car I have ordered. Perhaps the orange car was indeed prepped for the show and not typical. I guess I'll find out soon enough. BTW, the other C7's (not Z06's) they had on the lot had abysmal paint as well.

I believe orange peel is always related to clearcoat application. The underlying paint has nothing to do with it. What I can't understand is why the factory is still having problems. Its almost like its a hit or miss proposition if you get orange peel or not. Somebody should have asked Tadge about this. This has gone on for too long in my opinion.
I'm working with some new denim pads and M105 compound and saw these results.
Impressive results for sure, but it seems insane to me to have spend that much time and effort (and money) on a brand new $$90K car. The Camaro in the same showroom had excellent paint. So did the Chevy Sonic. Now, with all the reports of splotchiness in the the Blade Silver, I think I'm rolling the dice twice instead of once. Damn......
I don't get it. Our Torch Red Z07 has zero orangepeel, in fact, it has a stunningly beautiful glass-like surface. This is the first Corvette we have ever owned that was obviously wet sanded and buffed at the factory.
It is so perfect that if you use your finger and smear the surface, you can see slight scratches from the dirt appear. Simple to rebuff, but I wish you all could see it.
I am not bragging here, just floored by this. I truly believe this was one of the show cars before it made it to the dealer.
Our paint shop said they have never seen anything like it either, so bottom line, GM is capable of making the paint job like a Mercedes or Porsche.

Actually, the new Mercedes and Porsches I've seen all have some degree of OP, as do most cars. The C7's, however (at least most of the ones I've seen), are excessive.....and not in the realm of something I could live with.
Congrats on getting what appears to be a very nice aberration!
It really is hard to believe in this day and age that the most expensive vehicle in the GM line-up has OP, especially since there is a way to "fix" it before handing the car over to buyers.
It shows a lack of Quality Control at GM, and that's a shame.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
