I'm with you believe me. I thought it'd make it easier to find and/or a better reference location but...it really shows that common users of the Z06 forum really don't look at the sticky's...it's more new users. Once it was in the sticky section, it became out of sight out of mind. It being bumped and darkened...it draws people to see it better. After about a month, I requested it be unsticky'd...and immediately activity jumped dramatically.

No data about the weather or car behavior to provide but heres a Z07 at Magny-Cours Club. Odd thing is the magazine turned a faster lap than the RS in a 991 GT3 so I am not sure how consistent or good the driver(s) are.

The Z07 seems to be beating the GT3RS by a small margin in many comparisons. GT3RS is no question a fantastic machine, and it seems that, by most accounts, the Z07 is a bit more of a test of skill at the limit but...if you can extract it, it seems consistently faster than the GT3RS 991. I'm sure the 991 is an overall more rewarding machine but...Z07 is the bang for the buck supercar killer so.

The interesting thing about those two cars are, the Z07 reaches above its paygrade at that sector of GT3RS, GTR, NSX, R8, etc...and kicks ***. The GT3RS seems to also be the Corvette of its sector though, reaching at those like the 458, Mclarens, etc. The 991 GT3RS is a bang for the buck also I think, if you're shopping a certain category.

I think the overall concern with the Z06/7 is consistency. The GT3/RS models are legendary for consistent lap times. I gather the Z06/7 will not do the job consistently under its current guise. In rare cases its happened, either the ambient temps were low or driver skill didn't warrant excessive stress.

Where the Z06/7 excels are road courses with sweeping turns and long straightaways where it has a chance to stretch its legs and get some air in its lungs.

No question, the GT3RS is a better car...as it well should be, but with that comes a lot more pricetag, cost of ownership, etc. When LG comes out with this aggressive cooling option for the C7, I think it's going to be worth the cost to really allow the Z07 to play hard. I think the Z07 just allows a more affordable way to run with the big dawgs and it does so pretty well.

If you see enough vids though...there are plenty of people under driving GT3's, Z06's and all the like. All these cars run fairly consistently with each other in the hands of the masses.

-Track: VIR
-Layout: Full
-Transmission: M7
-Driving Mode/Settings: PTM Race
-Aero Package/Option Package/Setup: Stage 3 aero. Track alignment by TPC Racing
-Tires: Hoosier A7 (with well over 2 hours of track time on them)
-Conditions/Temp: 33F
-Overheat warning/failure if any: none
-Best Time of the day/Session achieved: 1:59.24
-Modifications, if any: DSC Sport shocks and controller, AP Racing brakes, LG brake ducts, GM secondary radiator.
-Notes (issues experienced, failures, passenger, anything pertinent that you feel affected your time, etc): You can see I was balked and had to lift before S/F line. Also a bobble in T1. Not great grip but a nice clean lap and a few laps to warm up the tires.

Some Aim data to back it up.

Wow...you shaved 2 seconds from your prior entry Car was liking that dense air.

Edit: Whoa...that Miata at the end....felt like he was staying right, then went left...what was your thought at the time, or did the video view make it seem worse...lol?

re: the Miata. My main focus was just hoping I could get to start finish without lifting or hitting him. In the end I had to breathe off.

That was one of seven ND Miata cup cars that a team brought and I learned that they had no real interest in making room. If you passed them on a straight and couldn't clear them by the next corner they would just go side by side and never back off.

Frankly, the hardest part of trying for a fast lap with this car is the traffic.

Have people been accounting for this 2 second "glitch" with the PDR and is there an easy way to spot it?

The question has been put forth to Tadge, we are going to have to wait for the responses. In Poor-Sha's video, the timer pretty clearly jumped backwards. I've watched the videos here as I posted them, and I haven't caught that happen prior. In Poor-Sha's case it wasn't every lap that was affected, just one particular lap.

Edit: Well...I've got one COTA time...SilveradoSS500's fast lap was affected. This isn't good...

The anomalous timer time change can be seen in cosworth if you compare your laps vs a reference lap as a spike in the time delta - see below.

The only other way is to tediously sit and watch videos you suspect are fast and concentrate on the timer. You can see the counter rewind suddenly in my short clip here

Yeah, I had it happen several times this last trip to VIR as well. At this point I just look at the Aim for lap times. That's one of the reasons I posted both Aim screen shots and the PDR for the 1:59 lap. This definitely sucks.
